A prototype for future world cities, Arcosanti embodies the theory of arcology, the merging of architecture with ecology. Conceived by artist Paolo Soleri, this style of architecture creates a system where the living and the structure work together, as organs do in a highly evolved being. Since 1970, this community has been striving to become the prototype for future pedestrian-oriented urban environments. There is an onsite restaurant too.

Great single rooms for only $30!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/09
I love staying here. It's very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are clean with a beautiful view. The pool is quite nice and not over chemicaled so you don't stink like chlorine when you get out. There are no tv's and no phones, it is bare minimum, sort of a hostel feel but with private rooms.

A Night in the City of the Future
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/19/06
While at first glance, Arcosanti is but a glimmer or a whisper of it's intention, the evening bring more to you than you could ever imagine. Dining with seventy-or-so other people chatting, and enjoying cuisine home-cooked and tenderly prepared by some of the kindest, and most interesting people in the world. This is a place for any wayward soule looking for acceptance, and a bit of laughter. The rates are reasonable, and the people are fantastic. Anybody who says anything else needs to rent a room at Wal*Mart.
