North Kaibab Trail

Description

If you are an experienced hiker with iron will and a thirst for scenic splendor, North Kaibab Trail may be your best bet on the Grand Canyon's challenging North Rim. The trailhead begins at the lower end of the parking lot, two miles north of Grand Canyon Lodge . The first leg of the journey descends through shaded forest to a picnic ground near Roaring Springs Canyon. This trek is 9 1/2 miles, round trip. Experienced hikers may continue past Roaring Springs along Bright Angel Creek all the way to the Colorado River.

4th trip

Better than the South Kaibab trail if you like less people. The views are great and if you stop overniht at Cottonwood prior to the Bright Angle, you can carry more goodies and have a more comfortable trip. The stay at Cottonwood will provide a nice rest for a leisure trip to Bright angle. You must spend time at Ribbon Falls, and a slow walk along Bright Angle Creek. When you get to BRC you can get a cold beer at the kitchen. If the weather is hot it will be the best beer you have ever had.

awesome but brutal

My favorite hike. Not as many people on the north side. Must be in execellent physical condition. Carry plenty of water. Trail is steep in some places and drop offs can be intimidating. Should take 2 days to the Colorado river to enjoy the experience.
