The owners of this place set out to break the mold of the standard brew pub, and they've done a darned good job. This isn't one of those fern-bar furnished places that attracts the under-30s hipsters. It's a place where regular folk feel at home kicking back for a pint of perfection. The place may add a bit of lightheartedness to the names of its brews: Bubbaganouj Ale; Blackbird Porter; Sasquatch Stout; and during December, Grinch Holiday Ale. However, the rich-bodied, satisfying beers are taken very seriously. Cask-conditioned ales, called Firkin Beers, are produced in the traditional English style. Pints of beer start at around USD4.
Our waitress was so rude to us on our last visit. Loud obnoxious and unprofessional. We have seen her be rude to other customers before. Also looked like she just rolled out of bed to come to work. We asked to speak with a manger and Suzi (?) came over. But she had no idea how to handle the situation. We were leaving through the bar and noticed our waitress sitting at the bar telling Suzi and the bartender about us and laughing about the situation. Also, have been in on several occasions and seems like your bartender is sometimes drunk. Is that illegal?
Service was great! But the food was NOTHING to brag about. They don't have much of a menu. While we were there there was a big family sitting across the room from us and they were letting there kids run through the restaurant screaming at the top of there lungs, this was not the Bartender & Waitress's fault but I was very disapointed that they did nothing to stop it. Not a very relaxing place to eat. I will definetly NOT go back there.
I've been there a number of times in the past decade and will be back in Flag next week and will make a point of stopping in. Good menu, excellent beer, laid back atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent patio make a visit here completely worthwhile.
What a fun place to visit. We were able to sit outside on the spacious patio and enjoy beer from a small, but quality, list. The locally made beer rivals some of my favorite beers. The eclectic burger choices made it hard to decide what to have, but we were not disappointed with lunch. Highly recommended when passing through Flagstaff.
Flagstaff Brewing Company's focus is most certainly the quality of the beer. Not only do their fine hand-crafted ales exemplify style and quality, but they are not afraid to experiment with rare segments of the ale genre. This is not your typical fern bar-brewpub where beer takes a backseat. That is not to say that the food is sub-par however. Expect to be full leaving the brewery after either lunch or dinner. One of Flagstaff's largest outdoor patios will be sure to please the outdoor fanatic! Highly recommended.
