Despite its name, this fine dining venue is large and lively with big-time rustic charm. When NAU students set out to impress a date, or are dining on their parents' dollar, this is where they head. The menu concentrates on Italian specialties but also includes a fair share of steak and seafood dishes. The soup, shrimp, salad and fresh fruit bar is legendary. Though the dining room has a somewhat formal air, the adjacent sports bar is usually loud and lively, especially on NAU game days.
I was in with my family and I must say that I was very impressed with the changes that have been made. For one, the new menu was excellent, consisting of a variety of options including steaks, sandwiches, seafood, italian and salad bar. Secondly, the staff has a great new look. In the past the restaurant had a manager who was lacking in customer service skills, however, he is no longer present. The changes look great! Overall a very good restaurant.
Upon entrance until completion Service very poor. Steak was at best mediocre. We were ignored upon entrance and had to actually ask to be seated. I actually had to locate tableware for our table even after salads were served. Will never return. There were only 6 other parties at the tiome and being to busy was not a reasons. The Prime Rib was very cold it actually may have even been the previous nights offering.
Took my family there on a Saturday evening during the fall as I
do every year. Things had changed. The
prices are higher, we had to pay extra for
the salad bar, the service was good, the
drink prices are too high. We listened
to the piano player but an irritated
manager told him in the middle of his
song to quit playing. I was told by the
waiter that the manager was the owner.
He needs to take a lesson or two in customer
service and hospitality.
Granny's is the best restaurant in Flagstaff. They have the best wings(Med, Hot, Honey BBQ, Spicy BBQ, and Teriyaki)for the best price They're .40$ everday except on Wednsday when they're .25$!!!! They also have great Specials like 2 For 1 bar menu on Tuesday, and $3.00 Bar menu on Thursdays!!! They also have a bunch of T.V.'s in the bar and are open serving food until Midnight. Their Diningroom area has a great atmosphere and friendly service. My family and I eat there frequently and we just love it!! Everyone should know about Granny's Closet!!!
My friends and I all love Grannys because they are open late, and have many nights where food isn't incredibly expensive, and that is so important when you're in college! A few times, the food wasnt cooked correctly, but most of the time it is awesome!
I'm actually pretty satisfied with Granny's Closet. The wings are great (teryaki and Spicy BBQ being my favorite) and so is the pasta and salads. A lot of people bash on the servers, but you have to remember that it get's really crazy in there and they are only human. Going to Granny's is about having fun and watching football. If you want a 5-star experience, go to Olive Garden or something.
Came for NFL and wings on last day of our trip - 3 adults/2 kids. Server neglected the table to the point where hostess became our backup waitress. No kids menu, brought 4/5yr kids adult size sprites, forgot 1 order, drink, extra plate, and any refills or add'l orders. Have been here before and this is unusual.
Ordered medium wings and they were way too hot and tasted kinda bad. Gave them back to waitress and she offered them to others at our table. Someone took her up on it but they appeared on the bill anyway. Brought this to the attn of hostess and mgr sent our waitress out to tell me since someone wanted the wings, they were charged. I said unacceptable and asked for the manager.
This manager was incredibly rude to me and unprofessional! Said he told waitress to take it back to the kitchen next time but that we wanted them so that's why they were charged (he did take them off the bill at this point). When he stormed back by, I asked to discuss the problems with him and he said he didn't care to-had already had words with others at our table and didn't have any more time for us. I will never go back and will make every effort to ensure everybody I know is aware of this horrible experience as well as follow up with any GM or owner I can find.
5 dozen wings all had the same odd taste and mushrooms were overdone and greasefilled. Also have to ask for the celery/carrots for wings-not included.(?) Travelers, bypass this one!!!
My wife and the two teenage kids always ask locals for the best wings in town when traveling. A young girl at the Holiday Inn told us about Granny's.
We got 50 wings to go. Great! and cheap.
I wish they sold Tee shirts
This little cottage may look unimposing, but dining here is an extremely formal affair! The efficient service and rich food
have given it an impeccable reputation. Fine dining is a tradition at Cottage Place since 1980, with the menu ...
