Talking with local people was great.
The special thing about the ANHC was having the opportunity to talk with people from the villages around Alaska. Everyone seemed really devoted to presenting life in the villages in a realistic manner. It was especially good to see the commitment the high school aged kids had to learning the traditions and demonstrating them in an honest way.
If you go, be sure to take time to talk with the folks in every role there: docents, administrative people, vendors, cooks, servers, etc. The all were delighted to be working at this neat place and happy to tell their own story.
This was well worth the price of entry, especially as I bought the "combo ticket" giving entry to the art and history museum downtown. That was a fine stop as well.
