Blue Monkey Lounge, Birmingham

The first time I patroned the lounge was in 2005, it smelled like urine and it was smoky. Today in 2011 it still smells like a homeless man pissed in the hallway, near the bar, and in the lounge area. No place should smell this way. What I do like about the Blue Monkey are the martinis, I admit that they have the best in the city, and I enjoy my friends and drinks when I'm outside on the patio. If its crowded on the patio and no where to sit I'm have to go in which I will only do if I'm buzzed or drunk this way I wouldn't pay attention to the smell of a urinal. I hear a lot of ppl wanting a DJ who plays nice deep and soulful house music. They should really look into it. The servers are nice. I had a good time Thursday night...I had to many Sweet-tartinis!! If you are wanting some good drinks and wanting to hang with friends and/or coworkers during the week and on weekends I suggest chillin outside in the nice spring breeze on the patio.

Blue MOnkey has the best atmosphere in the Ham it has the settings of a d.c night club but so many intimate areas large enough for you an your frioends to isolate yourself. Friendly service great drink pretty decent piano overall good place. Although this is not the place to go to be picked up it is a place to hang with your friends or just be alone.

Loved sitting outside in the patio area. Had lots of fun just talking and enjoying excellent drinks with friends.Inside lounge area tended to be kind of smoky which is why we opted for outside.

The Blue Monkey is the place to go if you feel like going out with a few friends and relaxing. Not like most bar scenes where you are just another face in the crowd. It's like being out, but at the same time like being at a friends house. Very relaxing atmostphere I would defintely recommend this place to anyone.
