A visit to the Cuale Waterfalls may not be for everyone, as you need to be a nature lover willing to trek for about four hours to get there. Those making the trek will be rewarded with a dip in the pools that have formed below the beautiful waterfalls. Those who do not wish to walk can enjoy the adventure on horseback. The ride takes you through some of the most beautiful Sierra Madre scenery, with views of some serene and untouched beaches along the way. Guided tours are available.
The Boat trip there was wonderful. Dolphins swam up beside the boat and were just as friendly as could be. The walk through the rainforst to the waterfall was lovely. and it was nice sitting there at the lil restaurant. I didnt get in the water there, well because we have all heard horros stories of swimming in tropical water like that..lol But it was very nice, and the shopping on the beach when you arrive is lovely you can use your gift of gab to talk down prices of jewelry. Very nice leasurly trip.
The boat trip to the drop off was great, however getting in and out of a little boat while the waves were crashing around you was not so great. The walk to the falls was disgusting as you were following or leading horses and you know what horses do on a regular basis. It was not pleasant at all and once you get there you pay for whatever you want even a chair..The lunch was included and was good..but no one told me I had to pay for my water and pay for my dessert??????
A tourist trap for sure and totally horrible.
I thought it was just beautiful. I went on horseback and decided to walk back. Either way you won't be disappointed. Just being in the "forest" and swimming in the pools is worth the time and money. You won't regret it. Be sure to leave a nice tip for the horses as they work very very hard to get you there safely.
