Live mariachi music and a free margarita with your dinner provides incentive to visit this famous restaurant which was featured in the movie "The Night of the Iguana." A peaceful atmosphere is achieved with the Cuale River flowing beside you as you enjoy your meal. Start your day by tasting the eggs with Mexican sauce, locally grown beans and hand made tortillas. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this restaurant offers a delicious variety of traditional Mexican cooking with a touch of the costal flavor.
We visit La Fuente del Puente a couple times each trip to PV. It is a must for sampling local cuisine at a good value. The margarhitas are refreshing and the cafe espanol is to die for! Have them prepare it tableside to see how little coffee goes into this preparation and the ice cream on top takes the beverage over the top!
Located at the bridge going into Old Town, this restaurant overlooks the river. Very pleasant location. The food wasn't as good in 2004. We heard that new owners took over. Go ahead & try some chicken nachos & a Dos Equis.
This has become a must-visit restaurant for me every time I go to Puerto Vallarta; it's in a bright, lively, colorful spot upriver on the Rio Cuale right across from "el mercado municipal", which is supposedly the largest self-contained market in town. The authentic and reasonably-priced food is great when you're either worn out from the shopping across the street and need a pick-me-up (great little margaritas, too) OR for fueling up before diving into the hectic shopping experience. Depending on the season and amount of rainfall, the river makes for either a peaceful scene or a vivid view of an active Mother Nature at work in the middle of town. And if you're lucky, you'll see a sleek, vibrant member of the iguana species hanging out on a limb right next to the railing; but don't worry, if you watch him (her?) too long, it'll move away from - and not toward - your party.
The best sunsets and the best walks can be taken in this beautiful boardwalk, which is the Malecón. It is
one of the things that enhances the beauty of Vallarta's Downtown as it runs along the beach. It is ...

This beachfront restaurant was the first one to be built along Playa de los Muertos, long before the Cuale River
could be easily crossed. This restaurant is an international favorite and the big palapa (thatched) roof is a landmark. ...
