Palapa (La), Altavista

My wife and I happened on this wonderful romantic restaurant while walking along the beach. We decided to stop and have a drink while we watched the beautiful sunset. The entire staff from start to finish was very helpful and polite. I told them I was going to ask my wife to marry me that night as we sat in this perfect setting. Everything that night went perfect including the trio ensemble that was performing that night. We can't wait to go back. Gracias

The warm buns with a cream cheese center are absolutely heaven! Beautiful ocean front seating, romantic, restaurant with excellent food. A great place to go for sunset drinks.

Excellent food, service and scenery. The view of the bay while dining was awesome. It was very relaxing and the seafood and steak we had is some of the best I have ever eaten.

The atmosphere was great, and so was the menu. The Lobster tail at US$45 was the best and a value considering US Cost. Otherwise, the prices were the same if you were in Los Angeles.

We were treated like royalty at La Palapa. The atmosphere was so romantic since it is right on the beach. The food was the best we had the whole week with reasonable prices.

Very Romantic. Wonderful view - literally on the beach. Service not the best. My husband and I waited 20 minutes just to receive a menu and another 20 for water (which came warm without ice). We ending up just having a appetizer and went elsewhere for dinner. Considering we had been there for TWO hours already. Would diffently recommend it for the view if you don't mind not too good service. The appetizer we had (coconut shrimp) was very good! This is not the restuarant if your looking for good service; however, if service doesn't matter the view alone is worth going for - very beautiful and romantic place.

The only meal I have eaten here has been breakfast and I wholeheartedly enjoyed mine-zucchini blossom and huitlacoche omelet, something that's very hard to find in the states. Much of the food, other than my omlet, was rather Americanized unfortunatly. Not much else to chose from for the adventurous eater. The service was quite good, and it was great fun to sit under a palapa in the sand to eat breakfast. Bottom line: pricy but the Bloody Marys are very good.

This restaurant was recommended by the DMC were were working with while in Puerto Vallarta the first week in February, 2007. The appetizers were quite good, but the meal was horrible. There were four of us and we all felt short-changed on our meal. Two of us including me had the scallops. What we got were just three medium sized scallops that were tasteless. My wife had the shrimp which was not cooked very well and she refused to eat it. They did not offer to send it back or replace it with something else. The other member of our party chose steak, which is always a mistake when in Mexico.

This place is on a beutiful beach with palapa's and a nice dining area inside. The whole experience is to die for. My wife and I have dined at least once on our last 9 trips to PV.

La Palapa Restaurant is by far known as the best in town. If you are looking for a phenomenal fine dining experience during your next visit, this is the place. Aside from unmatched ambiance, they also have a unique live band every night- say hello to Memo, Raul and Bob who will not forget your name, no matter how long it is before you return. If you come on Monday or Tuesday night, the owner, Mr. Perez, may be leading the group himself, including a number of songs from his most recent album. If you are looking for a truly romantic experience, they have a "romantic table" that can be reserved ahead of time where a beautiful white table is set out in the spotlight, just farther out on the beach than the other tables and lined with tiki torches and candles. Many a proposal have taken place here and twice as many perfect anniversaries from those who return. The neighboring restaurant, The Lazy Lizard Restaurant and Beach Bar, is known as a pre-emptive experience to La Palapa, with their phenomenal breakfast and bargain margaritas and beer. Lounge by day, and fine dine by night without walking more than a few steps!
