Cafe de Olla, Emiliano Zapata

The food was the best I had during my whole trip. I can't wait to go back!! Ariana P.S. I'm Mexican so I have HIGH expectations for my Mexican and sea food.

We (eight of us) went twice to this restaurant. The first time we had the house specialty platter of roasted lobster, mahi-mahi and prawns. It looked great but the lobster in particular didn't taste that great. There wasn't a lot of it and it was chewy. The second time we tried the more modestly priced entrees on the menu (75 - 100 pesos) and these were fine but no better than anywhere else. The lineups are always long to get into this restaurant and it takes a while to get served. We had much better food at a taco stand at Madero and Constitution, at a beach front joint cooking fish on a brazier and at the Red Cabbage.

This is a great place to eat and to enjoy the surroundings while visiting the old town of Puerto Vallarta. I had the seafood soup and it was excellent.

This is a crowded, noisy restaurant with no better than average food.There is almost always a long line and wait. The prices are reasonable but not exceptionally inexpensive.

We visit Cafe de Olla everytime we visit PV. The food is excellant, and the service is top notch. They have a wonderful Seafood Platter for 2 which is just out of this world. Their prices are very reasonable. On our last visit to PV in August, we ate there at least 3x that week. Our favorite waiter if Raul. He was our waiter a few years back when he worked at Paradise Village. After he left, we searched and found him at Cafe de Olla, and have been going there every year since. Make sure you give this restaurant a try on your visit, and ask for Raul. You won't be sorry. We are going back to PV for New Years Eve and will make sure we save a few nights for Cafe de Olla for sure.

I don't know what I was expecting but this restaurant to me was a typical Mexican meal. I can't understand why people wait in line for 1/2 to 1 hour when there are other Mexican restaurants in the area. Service was very quick as they are trying to turn the tables. If you want an expensive meal this is the place for you.

Delicious seafood platter! Whole lobsters cooked outside on the grill. Service is not the best, but we eat here every year while on vacation. No lines during low season.

Food is fantastic, very friendly waiters, great service. We don't mind waiting in line for great food. I would recommend to everyone that visits Puerto Vallarta, to stop by. You will not have a complete trip without going to Cafe De Olla. A lot of local celebrities visit daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Prices are right, great location. Wonderful atmosfere.

What I absolutely loved about this place was its traditional preparation of Mexican food. Although they don't have an extensive menu, they offer the best of traditional Mexican meals at a cheap price. The meat and fish come highly recommended. I travel to Mexico alot to see family so being at this restaurant while on vacation made me feel like I was eating a home cooked meal. The downside would be the wait for dinner, we took the advice from another traveler and showed up around 4:30pm. By 5pm there was a long wait line outside. The place was pretty much empty during lunch hours. The ambience had a romantic feel to it but it's on the small side and gets pretty crowded. The whole front of the restaurant is open so you get a semi-outdoor dining feel as well.
