In addition to being a good place to taste excellent imported and national meat cuts, this is also a popular place for businessmen, who are known to go for reasons not exclusively related to food, more than one shows some interest in the waitresses who work there. The decor is American in style down to the tiniest details, and is warm and cozy. All in all, it is a good choice to have a beer, have a good meal and listen to the pleasant jazz musicthat begins nightly at 8p.
THE POSITIVE: I had the ribeye and it was good. Not "Omaha" good, but not bad. The service was attentive. The price is high by local standards but about what you'd pay in NYC.
THE NEGATIVE: The "Angus Salad" was pretty pathetic.. It was a small plate of Iceberg lettuce chopped in squares, a couple of tomatoe slices -nothing to write home about. The steak was fine but pretty "standard" preparation: salted and grilled. It was a lot smaller than the price led me to expect. I could have eaten two. My companion had a coke and I have to say that I have never seen a bottle of coke so small! It was like a "novelty" or something and it wouldn't even fill the glass they give you! That's what a $2.50 soda lookes like?? My dinner (no alcohol) cost $45 and would have been about $19 in Miami. There were also "hidden" charges! Surprise! They ask for another $5 to use the silverware! We're on an expense account so it wasn't my money but it's unethical in my book and I didn't pay it.
OTHER: They say the girls are super hot but they're just stuck-up girls with push-ups dressed in long gowns from the 1800's. They're very average. The decor is western/cowboy and the girls aren't anything special.
Regarding cost/value: I wouldn't return. There are many many places that will give you a better dinner in Mexico City. For a good steak, try a place that says they're from Argentina and you'll be fine. There are several in Polanco or La Condesa. I recommend asking about hidden charges up front. Angus is a good place to go if you want a novelty soda!
