Inside, the walls are brimming with murals. A variety of dramatic arts are staged here and it is the host for the Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi (International Encounter of Mariachi). Every Sunday at 10am, the Ballet Folklórico de la Universidad de Guadalajara dances here. The Jalisco Philharmonic performs during the months of June and July. The capacity of the theater is 1,414 people and admission varies with the performance and seat location.
This theatre takes you back to theatre's of the late 1800's. Very European style with lots of hand painted murals. Don't miss any concert if you're in the city, you'll just love the sound and the beauty. The chairs were not as comfy, although they are very old. While you wait for the concert look outside the theatre, there are several big plaza squares around it with nice shopping stores. I would go back in a minute!
