Located south of San Miguel, this park offers a combination of history, archeology and recreation. There is excellent snorkeling and diving at the underwater park where you can spot sunken ships, anchors, statues and tons of tropical fish. You can also swim with dolphins at the Dolphin Discovery or find out more about Maya ruins at the Parque Arqueologico. The museum has exhibits on marine life, while the botanical garden has more than 450 species of regional plants. Children of all ages will enjoy the sea lion park and its daily shows.
i went to chankanaab park when i was little and i completely LOVED it! The dolphins was my favorite and i even got to kiss a sea lion! The pictures show that im having the best time of my life. Being 12 years old i learned so much and had some of the best experiences of my life. Now im 21 and getting married in september so for our honeymoon we are going to couzumel and this is one of the first places we are going to! he has never seen the ocean let alone a dolphin so he is very excited to go and i cant wait to relive a peice of my childhood! I would recoment this park to everyone including familys cause its going to be an experience of a lifetime for anyone who visits!!!
I was really looking forward to visiting this park. For sixteen dollars a person, you can get the same thing for free at any of the beachs up and down the road. Don't waste your money unless you go just to pet a dolphin.
My husband and I visited this parque. I was the one who took the excursion where I was to swim with the dolphins. (I was given a specific time that the dolphin experience was to take place) It took almost 2 hours just to be orientated and to get a life vest. It took another hour to be guided onto the pier. I paid alot of money to swim with the dolphins and all I got was a wasted amount of time on an island I was visiting and a wet swimming suit.
Theres nothign to dislike about it. The place is beautifull, the people is warm and nice. Sure theres a hot weather but the cristal clear water refresh you with no effort. A great place to visit anytime of the year
Chakanaab parque...swiming with the dolphins..the port was really nice even that was still not finished.I am going to Cozumel agian in January 2006 and I hope that the hurican didn make a lot of damage and will be swiming again with the dolphins!
I visited Cozumel last summer and it was one of the most beautiful and amazing places I have ever been. We had a blast partying on the beach, playing volleyball, kayaking, catching some sun and just hanging out. It is truely a place to escape reality and just relax in a beautiful tropical paradise. I'm so excited to return that I'm already planning my next visit.
We went to the dolphin park on our recent visit to Cancun. I will tell you up front, there are separate charges for park entry and the dolphin swims. You can just go to the park and have a nice time, but that isn´t where the real excitement is.
The park is in geat condition, including the botanical gardens. After signing up for the dolphin swim we spent some time snorkelling. Granted, there were not a lot of fish, but it is a safe location for beginner snorkellers. The beaches are very nice, with plenty of palapa-covered wooden chairs.
Now, on to the dolphin swim...it was absolutely GREAT!!! My wife and I had about half an hour with one trainer and two dolphins (delphines , in Spanish). The animals are quite friendly and trusting, and the trainer keeps the fish flowing to keep the dolphins´ interest. There was a dedicated photographer, as well as a dedicated videographer, for our adventure. At the end we were offered, with a very soft-sell approach, to buy still photos, the video, or a package. We chose to purchase just the video, but could have refused the entire lot without pressure.
We strongly recommend signing up for this adventure if you have the opportunity.
