Dive with Martin

Description

Dive master Martin Aguilar has been diving the reefs of Cozumel for over 15 years and hires only certified dive masters. Safety is a concern and his boats are equipped with oxygen and first-aid kits. Hotel pick-up available in the southern zone. Two-day packages or longer include shore diving, underwater video, dive computer use, full line Mares equipment and a free night dive. Additional Note: Martin's shop collects second-hand clothing to give to local children and offers discounts and free dives to donors. A good way to help others, clean out your closet and go diving all at once!

Good Dive Shop
We (my husband and I) did 4 2-tank dives with Dive with Martin and enjoyed the experience. The dive masters seemed experienced and safety seemed to be of the highest priority. The dive boats arrived on time, seemed clean and were in good working order. The dive master (w/o fail) gave us the option of helping choose the dive site, and gave us a good briefing of what the dive profile was to be and all the pertinent safety information. We had a different dive master each dive. That was both good and bad. In the past, we've mostly dove with a single dive master and that is nice because you can get to know each other as the week goes by. The prices were very very competitive and most importantly for us; the groups were always under 8 divers. It made getting off and on the boat easy! In addition, the groups seemed to have about the same level of experience which was nice. We would definitely recommend going with this dive shop!

Best dives ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/24/08
A group of four of us stayed at the Iberostar the week of March 16 and dived four two-tank dives and one night dive with DwM. Service was excellent - the boat picked up every morning at 8:00 and was always the first of the daily "flotilla" heading out from San Miguel, meaning we were first to the best dive sites towards the south end of the island. Equipment was excellent and in great condition. Dive masters were very friendly and took us to some great caverns and walls, pointed out a ton of acquatic life were knowledgable on different species. Very reasonable rates. Dive with Martin provided the best dives ever for all concerned. Top notch!

Great divemasters, small fast boats
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/19/08
Very accommotating dive staff*, small fast boats, small groups. -Have dived all over the world, but this is one of the best values ever. *Several years ago when Martin was still alive my wife, while climbing back on board the boat accidently dropped her entire personal BCD with tank, wieghts, regulators, and computer into the ocean near Palancar Caves. While her horrified husband (myself)who was supposed to be assisting her watched, the whole trappings sank in about 250 feet of open sea. Upon our return to the shop I insisted on paying Martin for the loss of his tank. He refused the offer, but personally went back the following day, made a deep water dive, retrived our valuable gear, and in our eyes made himself a hero.

Dive with Martin very good!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/14/08
My adult son and daughter and I are realitively newbies, but serious divers. This was our second dive trip, also to Cozumel. First trip was a total dive trip at a condo in the city with Dive Pardise, which for a big operation is nice. This trip was family so two non-divers so we stayed at Iberostar. Dressel divers are on sight, and I DO NOT recommend them, though we didn't use them. They wouldn't return emails, their prices are very high, and they pack cattleboats. Reviews are not good for this operation based in Spain and owned by the resorts. So we chose Dive with Martin which came highly recommended. I'm an info junkie so I want to learn a lot, and like Dive Paradise, DWM has an American contact to explain info. We only had time for two dives but for $130, included the equipment! With integrated weights! Boats were small, there was typically 6-8 divers with one DM, who spoke good english and was professional safe. The pre-dive safety lectures weren't as detailed as DP, but most divers had experience. DM stayed close, pointed out lots of things, including the first Toadfish we've seen! Martin has his own memorial in one reef area, which surprised me, for a marine sanctuary. Martine died last year, including his wife leaving three kids, and staff and others are trying to keep this operation going. Snacks were only fruit and water, where on DP we also got pastries and soda pop. I recommend them for the price. The guy that got left, I don't blame him for being angry, but stuff happens. It blows the diving for the day, so you have to be sure, and we called the DWM shop and they assured us they'd be there and they were and on time. I recommend this operation.

Dive with Martin....no, seriously Dive with Martin!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/07
I'm one of three guys that used Dive with Martin on a four day dive trip to Cozumel. We are all three experienced divers and this operation is top notch. Not only did we get plenty of dives (two the first day including night dive, four the next two, and two the last day) and the package price was excellent. DWM split their boats up between the less and more experienced divers, so we mostly had experienced divers on our boat. This was nice because we were able to do more advanced dives than if there were novices on board. The divermasters and captains were great as well letting us pick our destinations and offering great advice. For value and great diving pick Dive with Martin.

A great experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/06
My son and I took the Discover Scuba ("Resort") course with Dive With Martin. I had dived before but am not certified, and my 19-yr-old son had never dived, but has been snorkeling for years. We arrived on a cruise ship and wanted a dive experience that was richer than the standard resort course dive from the beach (which is what was offered through the cruise line). Dive With Martin offered a two-tank dive over a reef for a reasonable price. The instructor was very helpful and gave us a great tour of the reef. We were able to safely maximize our bottom time and see a wide variety of fish and reef creatures. An unforgettable experience.

Beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/06
This trip was our 16th dive trip to Cozumel, but our first experience with Dive-with-Martin. They were extremely late the first day, and Dive-with-Martin failed to pick us up on our second day of diving, then claimed we were no-shows. He did show up, but in a totally unmarked skiff, not one of his normal diveboats, and apparently did not know or could not pronounce our names. We WERE there and SAW the skiff, but never hear our names or "Dive with Martin." I gathered enough objective witnesses from hotel staff, boat captains and another dive operator who I had spoken with or who had seen us waiting to get Lomas Travel who booked us with Martin to give us a partial refund. Even though it would have cost Martin nothing to take us the next day he refused unless we paid for another dive. Total lack of business sense wed never use him again and will tell all our diver friends about our experience, and a larger lack of personal integrity, since he told Lomas Travel several outright lies. BEWARE.

GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL
By William, 8/16/05
I did not set up this trip, but when I go back "Dive with Martin" has got to be the way to go. The dive Masters were professional and very understanding of the people differnet levels of experience. The boat and equipment was also in great shape. The ten of us went and conducted 7 dives in three days and had a great time. I just can not say enough good things about "Dive with Martin". Just tell them what you want out of your dive and enjoy. Great people.
