Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma, the following description may no longer be accurate. Please consider this when making your travel plans. Jimmy Buffet himself would be proud of the decadence and relaxation that takes place under the palapas of Mezcalitos. This windward side bar is located right on the beach at Punta Este (Mezcalitos). Nap on a hammock after enjoying a tropical cocktail or "cheeseburger in paradise". Margaritas, Corona and Dos Equis beer tend to be the potables of choice. As the sun goes down, stay for music, seafood, and warm breezes coming off the water.

What a dump

After what seemed like a 30 minute cab ride that cost 20 bucks we arrived at Mezacalitos and the place was closed. There was no beauty in half dead vegetation and a beach that looked like a rock quarry. Took another 20 dollar cab ride back to town and went to Carlos and Charlies and had a great time.

My Favorit Place

I have been going to Mezcalitos for close to twenty years. On my first trip all that was there was just the bar area and a small hut over top.I was a little hesitant this trip because it had been several years since I had been there. I was not dissapointed. It has expanded some but the character has stayed the same. I have spent many hours there drinking beer and margarities,playing dominos and eating shrimp. It is not fancy but just wonderful. I have traveled to may places in the world but this is my favorit bar.

The last frontier .... the bottom line

Just a 10 minute ride from town and we arrived at Mezcalito's The last frontier, surrounded by mangles, beach and wilderness. We watched flamingos fly by and listen to Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffet's tunes, while rocking in our hammock..... and sipping a strong, strong Margarita...we have arrived in heaven No fast food, only fast margaritas is. this the place we always dream about back at home

Cheeseburger in Paradise!

Mescalitos is a short trip across the island from San Miguel. The Jimmy Buffett broadcast, the little shop, beach seating, the hammocks, ring-on-a-string game,naked beach and the best mojitos i'd ever had are just a few of the reasons my friends and I still talk about it. The only reason it gets a 4 on food is because my boyfriend says cheeseburgers should be left to the americans. I can't wait to go back.

small margaritas

The smallest drinks in town. Casa Dennis has better drinks..the food is good and the beach is very nice. And those bathrooms?!?!?! Just make sure you take your own hand-cleaner...

THE BEST

Great place to have food, drinks and lay on the beach. The atmosphere is awesome (gets very crazy at times) and the staff is great. We have made friends with the staff and return every 3 to 4 months to visit them. This is a place you won't want to miss.

Ahhhhh

Talk about a place to unwind! Sitting on the lounge chair with the surf washing up around you, sipping your 3rd margarita from a little stone jug - it doesn't get any more relaxing. The staff were a lot of fun and kept those drinks coming. We stopped for 15 minutes and stayed 3 hours.

best kept secret, undoubtly awsom

Every year I come back and the place gets better just like good wine. Best shrimpa and you have to say the largest burgers ever, margaritas are strong, very strong. Same friendly staff there over the years. Mr. Mezcalito is on top of details. .... you visit Cozumel if you visit Mecalito's.

Mescalitos is a must!!!

We've been going to Mescalitos for years and always look forward to our next visit. We were in Cozumel for Carnaval the first year after the hurricane and Mescalitos is up and running!! It's hard to keep a good place shut down!! We plan at least one day of nothing but drinking margaritas and meeting friends on the beach at Mescalitos!!!!
