Mezcalitos Bar & Restaurant

Jimmy Buffet himself would be proud of the decadence and relaxation that takes place under the palapas of Mezcalitos. This windward side bar is located right on the beach at Punta Este (Mezcalitos). Nap on a hammock after enjoying a tropical cocktail or "cheeseburger in paradise". Margaritas, Corona and Dos Equis beer tend to be the potables of choice. As the sun goes down, stay for music, seafood, and warm breezes coming off the water.
Went to Mezcalitos a few weeks ago. The place is so relaxed and fun. Luis is quite a character. What a good time drinking some beer and getting to know the staff. Food's great........people make it a fantastic place! Sure hope to get back there again!
Talk about a place to unwind! Sitting on the lounge chair with the surf washing up around you, sipping your 3rd margarita from a little stone jug - it doesn't get any more relaxing. The staff were a lot of fun and kept those drinks coming. We stopped for 15 minutes and stayed 3 hours.
Mescalitos is a short trip across the island from San Miguel. The Jimmy Buffett broadcast, the little shop, beach seating, the hammocks, ring-on-a-string game, naked beach and the best mojitos i'd ever had are just a few of the reasons my friends and I still talk about it. The only reason it gets a 4 on food is because my boyfriend says cheeseburgers should be left to the americans. I can't wait to go back.
We've been going to Mescalitos for years and always look forward to our next visit. We were in Cozumel for Carnaval the first year after the hurricane and Mescalitos is up and running!! It's hard to keep a good place shut down!! We plan at least one day of nothing but drinking margaritas and meeting friends on the beach at Mescalitos!!!!
I have been going to Mezcalitos for close to twenty years. On my first trip all that was there was just the bar area and a small hut over top.I was a little hesitant this trip because it had been several years since I had been there. I was not dissapointed. It has expanded some but the character has stayed the same. I have spent many hours there drinking beer and margarities, playing dominos and eating shrimp. It is not fancy but just wonderful. I have traveled to may places in the world but this is my favorit
The location of the bar is absolutely gorgeous and laid back. The hammocks are a great touch. The staff is very fun and could communicate with us pretty easily. The margaritas rocked and are served in these cool brown pottery cups. We asked what they recommended to eat and the waiter suggested the Mezcalitos Super Shrimp. It was truly the best shrimp we ever ate!! It only cost $14.00, but we would have paid more! We ended up ordering another platter and were licking our fingers of the fabulous sauce. We've been to Playa Del Carmen twice and have been to Cozumel both times. Mezcalitos is a definate must on our vacation!
I have been going to Mezcalitos for over 20 years and each time it is just as amazing as the first. If you've ever watched a Corona commercial and wondered if a place like that really existed, Mezcalitos is that place. Icy cold beer, potent margaritas, delicious fajitas, chips and salsa. Hammocks, white sandy beach and tranquil blue water. Not to forget GREAT SERVICE and cheap prices. I love Mezcalitos and will always return!!!!!
Great place to have food, drinks and lay on the beach. The atmosphere is awesome (gets very crazy at times) and the staff is great. We have made friends with the staff and return every 3 to 4 months to visit them. This is a place you won't want to miss.
We found Mezcalitos while on a excursion from our cruise. We rented scooters (just us girls) and drove around the island. After an uneventful and not so scenic drive it appeared that we were coming to the end of the road and to our delight paradise!!! We had a bit of a time crunch so we only had time for a snack and a margarita. I loved it all. Sandy floor, no electricity, menu on a piece of wood!
If only we had time to stay on the beach, have a few more drinks and great food!
Of my whole 7 day cruise, my favorite time was the 45min I spent at Mezcalitos. I cherish the one picture someone took of us while toasting our margaritas.
When I day dream it is of me back there, sippin margaritas with the hot sand between my toes, with more time and even more fun.
Everyone I know who goes to Cozumel, I say " you have got to go to Mezcalitos!!!"
Thanks for the fun, Thanks for the memories!
