Coconuts Bar and Grill

Description

There aren't many restaurants along the Eastern Highway—the only paved road that skirts along the island. Coconuts is located right off this road on Cozumel's only hill next to Playa del San Martin . They serve traditional American favorites like burgers and fries as well as some Mexican entrees. It offers patrons breathtaking views of the ocean. Coconuts is also famous for its 'full moon parties' with great live music and dancing. Other than full moon parties, Coconuts closes at dusk.

Worst place on the island!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/5/11
Having been to Cozumel a total of 18 times since 1992 and to Coconuts each time, our group of 12 were completely surprised by how bad the food and drinks have become! A mass quantity of cheap tequila does not make a good margarita! The biggest surprise came when we were asked if the drinks were good and when we said we did not like them, the owner became irate - to the point he kicked us out of the restaurant. He was even nice enough to follow us on the way out and give us the finger as we exited. Now to give you an idea of the group, the average age was 42, and we had 1 drink - and did not finish that! What happened to the Coconuts I used to know? Save yourselves some embarrassment and DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! There is a new owner and it is not the same. If it is fun on the windy side of the island you seek, go to Senior Frog's or Senior Iguanas instead. You will be treated with respect and given a drink that is meant to be enjoyed. If it is the "Coconuts" you seek - go to Mezcalito's!! It is the topless beach and you don't have to get the girls drunk to get them to take their tops off!

Best on the island
By Timothy, 2/2/10
I've been to Coz 12 times over the past ten years on various dive trips. I am a firm believer that a vacation is what you make of it. Coconuts is a must. If you are interested the hustle and bustle of the "cruse crowd" then stay in San Miguel, go to the typical Carlos and Charlies, Fat Tuesdays, get drunk, visit Diamonds International and fight the crowds for "Mexican" souvenirs made in Taiwan. If you want to experience a taste of the Island, get to the windward side and enjoy the Caribbean coast. The beaches are nice, the water is a little rough but manageable. Coconuts is probably one of my favorite places on this planet. The view is spectacular, the conch civichi is wonderful and the beer is cold. Myself, Family and friends have never had anything but friendly service and good food at reasonable prices there. This is a perfect spot to waste the afternoon, after all you are on vacation. Lets face it you are in Mexico, the if you are looking for a five star establishment stay on the ship. If you want to experience a true taste of the island rent a jeep or moped in town and head east. Coconuts, along with various other establishments along the coast are well worth the trip. Save San Miguel for after dark when the action starts.

Bottled water with ice?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/10/10
We had a fabulous 10 day trip to Mexico, but were VERY disappointed that Coconuts servers gave our daughter bottled water as we had ordered, but then poured it over their ice. She came down with Montezuma's the next day. We did not realize what had happened at the time, but later after she was sick, she told us that they poured it for her. Obviously, their water/ice is NOT purified.

A Cozumel Must!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/5/09
My favorite part of my trip to Cozumel was Coconuts. The views were beautiful, the food was great, and the server was hilarious. You have to put Coconuts on your agenda if you ever visit the island, well worth the beautiful drive out to it!

Loved it!
By Tina, 5/13/09
We just returned from a week's stay in Cozumel and visited Coconuts twice. The Dos Equis were ice cold! and the Poppers are a must! We enjoyed fajitas on the first day, and fish tacos on the second visit. They were both delish! Ladies, you have to get a tattoo! =) Cannot wait to return to both the island and Coconuts!

Birthdays on the Hill
By Mark, 2/14/09
There may be no other place, scenery, or relaxed atmosphere like it. The Sols and Dos Equis are ice cold, the view is spectacular. Our favorite dishes are the shrimp cocktail (Mexican style), salsa and guacamole, and the conch ceviche is awesome. Highly recommend a swim before and after on the most peaceful, pristine, secluded beach you'll find. Don't forget to leave them a souvenior, and ladies you must leave a picture...you'll see what I mean!!! Coconuts has become my place to enjoy each birthday lunch!

Can't wait to go back!
By Donna, 1/20/09
Came up on this place while driving around the beach in a rented jeep- liked the location a top the hill- so went on up. View was breath taking- the employees were friendly and service was fast! Had Gaucoamole, chips salsa, and fish tacos. Everything as great! Margaritas are the best! Just don't drink too many or you may not make back around the island!
