Another successful seafood restaurant serving up surf and turf in the great Cozumeleño style. With its cozy decor of rustic Mexican furniture, wooden beamed ceilings and lovely prints, this upscale restaurant is quite popular with locals and the cruise ship crowd. The staff takes everything in stride and provides excellent service along with wonderful food. Reservations are a must but even with them you may have a bit of a wait.
My husband and I used to love going to Cozumel and our favorite part was stopping at La Mission. The restaurant has been relocated since the last hurricane and the restaurant is just not the same. The food has always been above average but now it has just become a place to get a fast bite to eat. The ambiance is fine but the food is only okay. My husband got a fajita because we were in hurry to get back to the cruise ship and it was so dried out that he hardly ate any of it. We'll be going back to Cozumel this weekend but this won't be one of our stops. Not worth the money.
This little restaurant is tucked away in San Miguel and away from where the cruise ships come in thus it is not backed to the gills. The restaurant is beautiful at night and has great service. The lobster is very cheap but prepared to perfection. I would come back to the island just to eat here!!!!
I've been to the Mission(near the square) and the Casa Mission and enjoyed both. The Casa had the animals before the hurricane but I didn't go then and now they have only parrots. The restaurant is in the patio of the owner's house and it essentially Mexican and totally atmospheric. We had three waiters in attendance and the owner came by too. The Mission is my favourite for fish with garlic sauce. I've been there about 6 times and the food and service is great. I would recommend the black bean soup--the best anywhere!
