Office (The), Cabo San Lucas

When I dream of Mexican vacation I dream of the Office. I was there in June (the off season) and it was a great breakfast joint, a great beach with waiters, a great dinner with your feet in the sand. It was always classy. An ice cube landed on our table from some young celebrants, but other than that, very nice. Maybe the off season'ness has something to do with the enjoyment and the fact that we ate there 3 times. I hope the Office is not becoming a victim of it's own success. If anyone can tell me - please post.

Food quality was very poor, especially for the very expensive price. The only thing worth going for was the view. I will not go back for the food!

My wife and I came to Cabo on vacation a few years ago. We felt like walking wallets. However, once we got to The Office, all was good. We would spend much of the day there eating and drinking. The vendors were at a minimum and the food and beer was good enough for us to keep coming back. The Office is the only good thing Cabo has going for it.

We used to enjoy the Office, but the prices have gotten very high, while the food & service have gone downhill. We will not go back. The only thing good here is the ambiance of having your feet in the sand while watching the ocean, and you can get that at other restaurants on the beach with better quality, better service and better food.

On our last trip in May 2005, our group had to wait for an hour to get seated and then another 1 + hours after ordering, to get our food finally served. A few of our friends went to the restaurant next door since they didn't want to wait. Unfortunatley, I don't remember the name of this place. It's right on the beach looking out to the Sea of Cortez. My friends enjoyed the same ambiance, stated the food was great, and less expensive! They were also seated and served in a timely manner.

We thought we would be impressed by The Office after what our friends told us. It was very disappointing. We went for the Thursday night Mexican entertainment. That was the high point. Unfortunately, the music was so loud, I had to shout at other members of our group of ten to discuss our menu options. A waiter offered me an "upgraded" margarita. Nice idea, and it was good. It should have been - when I got the bill, I discovered I was charged $12.50. We were there in the evening, and it was really difficult to read the menus. However, we had to hurry, because our waiter told us we had better place our orders because the kitchen was getting backed up. The food was good - served hot and well prepared. I asked for a glass of Chardonnay with my dinner. The wine, like my margarita, must have been really special. On our bill, they charged me $13. Other big surprises were the bottled water. The Voss "designer" water was billed to us at $5.50 a bottle. So - for our party I think we spent nearly $50 on water! Our bill, with tip was $400, for standard menu items - no lobster, no specials. Our family's share (3 people) was approx. $130, for two 1/2 dinners (my wife shared), two "upgraded" $12,50 margaritas, one $13 chardonnay, and water. I just can't remember ever spending $30 for a cocktail, glass of wine, and water! We had many fine meals during our week in Cabo. This was not one of them.

It's all about Location, Location Location. Pueblo Bonito Blanco is a very family friendly place, walking distance to the Offfice. Even though the venders are close to the tables the staff are alert to make sure that they are not intruding.

The food here was pretty good. Prices were what you would expect from any other restaurant. The only thing I didn't like here and in all other restaurants ON the beach is the vendors that try and get you to buy stuff while you eat. BOO!!

The Office was amazing..I made two trips to The Office...The breakfast is amazing and the dinner is amazing, I attended the Mexican Fiesta and that was pretty neat, goes into detail of the Mexican culture, the ocean view dining is amazing.

Been going to "The Office" since 1997. We will never go back because it is not the same. No more Happy Hour. No more 2 for 1. No more fun waiters. What we knew as a unique place to have some drinks with friends and get a surprisingly good meal on the beach for a reasonable value is gone. It has been converted into an upscale restaurant in the sand and it doesn't work. Still very busy but this is totally based on past reputation in our opinion. Be prepared for an hour or more wait if you don't have a reservation. The Mango Deck located next to The Office tries to fill the void but doesn't even come close to being what The Office used to be. Yuk!
