Montreal Biodôme is a science center and ecological zoo that is home to four distinct ecosystems: a lush Tropical Forest, the temperate Laurentian Forest, the St. Lawrence Marine Ecozystem and the Polar worlds of the Arctic and Antarctic. Plenty of interpretative panels and staff are on hand to help visitors on self-guided tour. The Environment Place amphitheater presents films, performances and lectures, all related to conservation and environmental protection.
I absolutely enjoyed the Biodome! I thought that it was a truely unique experience, getting to see and feel the various environments. While it was smaller than I had anticipated (I'm spoiled having grown up in Orlando, Florida with all the fantastic theme parks), I still thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Do yourself a favour and get the Nature Lovers package and also see the Botanical Gardens and the Insectarium. The Chinese Gardens alone are worth the price...and the Touch-A-Bug show at the Insectarium was alot of fun! My partner and I literally spent all day amongst this complex of attractions and loved every minute of it!
Our experience at the Biodome was very nice. Both, my 12-year old and my 3-year old enjoyed it, which is not typical. It is an indoor zoo and aquarium combined and also quite a relief to get away from the summer heat! The Biodome was also convenient by the Metro although parking seemed to be available despite what people told us.
Well done Canada. We were very impressed with the execution of the exposition. Basically, unlike disney, you are guided through several natural habitats. Native flora, fauna and animals are included. The only environment missing was the desert.
