St Patrick's Day Parade
Montrealers of all ethnicities come out every year for the city's rollicking St Patrick's Day celebrations, which have been going on in more or less their current form since 1824. The parade normally begins at noon at the intersection of Ste-Catherine and du Fort, moving east along Ste-Catherine Street to St-Urbain. Many spectators and indeed some participants might join or leave the procession around Bishop, Crescent and University Streets, where Irish pints and music flow freely at McKibbin's, Hurley's and the Old Dublin.
The streets are filled with happy and excited people, they are super friendly and just want to enjoy the scene like everyone else. The bars get packed and everyone enjoys their favorite pint, usually on Crescent St.
Hope you can come out and see for yourself.
PS Everyone is IRISH on St. Patty's Day.
I was very lucky at last minute I was invited to join this years 2005 St. Patricks day parade with The Chateauguay group. Since I just moved back to Montreal, What a fun day that was for me. The parade route was great and thank goodness it wasn't -20 here that day. Even if you were not Irish, that day you sure left feeling like you were!Great time hats off to everyone involved in putting this together. Hope to be here next year.
