Montreal's most visually appealing downtown shopping center is also its most upscale. The exterior is an attractive blend of old-fashioned stone skyscraper with modern touches, while the interior is centered around a giant decorated lobby. The SAQ Signature focuses on high-end wine from around the world, while numerous cafes and restaurants provide respite from a day's shopping.
Les Cours Mont-Royal is a unique shopping mall. It was previously the old Mount Royal Hotel, and remnants of the architecture can be seen throughout the mall. There is an overall beauty and elegance in the decor, mainly due to the mahogany wood frames, columns and chandeliers. The piece de resistance is the huge chandelier beneath a mosaic tiled ceiling in the centre of the mall, which remains from the old hotel.
