When this complex was constructed in the late 1950s, it marked not only a revolution in modern building methods (portable cranes rose with the structure) but also the beginning of modern architecture in the city. Seen from the air, the central building resembles a cross, in honor of the Virgin Mary. The building features commercial offices, banks, shops and restaurants, including the 737 terrace on the roof.
