Olympic Stadium

Description

Roger Taillibert's magnificent building takes a beating in the court of public opinion, but it remains Montreal's most stunning architectural achievement. The enormous bowl features a perpetually disintegrating roof that was originally meant to be retractable, while the inclined tower affords an incredible view over the city.

Not worth the trip or the money
By ,
The Olympic Stadium is old, outdated and so not worth the money to go see it. we were chased out by the staff after 1/2 hour on top, avoid the Olympic stadium.

An Impressive Stadium
By ,
Olympic Stadium still looks and feels futuristic 30+ years on and is in overall very good condition. It was a great venue for watching a CFL game recently between Toronto and Montreal. It is a loud stadium which adds to the excitement of a football game. The structure itself is massive, with a tremendous main entrance lobby. The interior walkways around the perimeter of the stadium are about 3 times wider than that of a modern day NFL stadium, which allows a lot of traffic to move smoothly and unimpeded. The walk up ramps are likewise wide and there are ample escalators everywhere. The bathrooms are a bit small but abundant overall as they are situated at every tunnel. The metro system goes right into the stadium, so there is no need to go outside to use mass transit. It does not get any more convenient than this. There are reminders of the grand Olympic games held there on the grounds and within the stadium. The infrastructure and grounds around the stadium are likewise quite amazing. I'm looking forward to going to the '08 Grey Cup at Olympic Stadium.

I had the best time ever in Montreal while I was there with my best friend ever, Bradley, and my dog, Jasmine. We went to the Stadium and had burgers.

An Olympic Bronze is metal?
By ,
It is really an incredible structure. Impressive Architecture. All the flags fyling, but thats about it. I'm sure all the attendees at the games were awe struck but sure must hate to have to pay the bill now. I think we came across several places where the concrete was breaking up and paint was peeling everywhere. I wonder what Montreal is going to do with such a huge place? Well it is a place where history was made and the Torch was lit and the games were played and someone has a gold medal they won there and I guess that means alot to them. I did like the Bio-dome.

Not that great
By ,
Wasn't that interesting. just a stadium. Its sort of wasted because they spent so much money to build it and only use it once. its like a one time crytal glass.

ok
By ,
not much to do there, just look at the pool and seats, the ride to the top is also ok. Average at best. It is a good view but we paid $31 to see all 4 attractions and it was not worth it. Insectarium was a waste unless you love bugs, The botanical garden was nice but not in bloom in may. The biodome was good. The first land was the best, take your time as it is not big. Your camera will fog up as it is very humid in the first land.

HORRILE

From a montrealer stand point this building is Awful, useless. We see it has something Montreal does not need. We are still in debt because of it, and Now it is sittign there unused. We had our baseball team in there nwo they are gone. SO what we payed so mch for is just there unused.

Awesome view, interesting tour
By ,
The view from the tower is breathtaking. We had plenty of time to walk around and view all 360 degrees. The tour of the stadium and pool areas was very interesting. The guide as friendly and well versed. It is sad to think that such a beautiful site is no longer being used to its full capacity. You will only need about an hour to an hour and a half to take the tour and go to the top of the tower.

What a view!
By ,
The ride to the top was short but very nice. If you want to take a picture, take it quick because the ride ends shortly. The view from the top of the tower is amazing. Montreal is a beautiful city and what a wonderful way to see it's beauty from above. We got combo tickets to visit the Biodome and the Tower and both were well worth it. Also, very convenient by the Metro.
