Argo is a landmark in Montreal's literary history
By ,
I used to visit Argos in the early 1970's and the tiny shop and its gentle, thoughtful owner had a monumental impact on me and my interest in books. Imagine how they withstood all that time and transformation?

Beloved

Beloved books, a little old bookshop that knows. Only first-rate writing here, the best in English literature, presented in a shop small and full of mystery as a gypsy caravan.

Proprietor John George a Real Jewel
By ,
Great service, friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices with a wonderful selection. Since those early times spent at this shop I have become a very much well read individual..myself being now very much an avid collector of fine readings. Still hoping to realize a dream to open a shop like it in Quimper France. This shop saved my life, that is to say John George and his kindness saved my life....A very wonderful man.I owe so very much to this most wonderful of places and time spent reading there.
