Tucked in underneath the prototypical Montreal staircase, in the middle of Rue St-Denis 's busiest strip, this old-time candy shop offers treats imported from the four corners of the globe. European and local sweets predominate, and most are stocked in glass jars straight out of a 1950s movie set. You will spend more than a couple of nickels for your fix, of course, but once Madame Decarie cheerfully guides you through her delightful little hideaway you will hardly notice. It is one of Montreal's real hidden gems.
