Bay (The)

Description

Packed into a beautiful Victorian building in the heart of downtown is Canada's oldest department store; its oldest company, in fact. The men's and women's departments feature all the major designer labels in addition to house brands, while the kitchen and bath departments are especially strong. The store also features a beauty salon, optician, travel agency, watch repair, hearing aids, wigs and gift registry; in short, things you will not find many other places under one roof.

Poor quality boots from London Fog
By ,
First of all I'd like to report that the people working at the Bay are friendly and helpful it's not their fault that some of the stores products are highly inferior!!! I bought a pair of London Fog boots in Dec. of 2008. I was on vacation for a month my boots did not last that long. I returned them ,because it was over 30 days since I bought they , agreed the craftsmanship was inferior, they purchased another pair from London Fog. Now it's been another month and this pair is NO GOOD. I 've bought cheaper boots at Yellow's and Sears for less that at least lasted 2 years these boots did not even last 2 months. Do Not buy any footware by London Fog at the Bay. They should not even have them in the store. I feel completely taken advantage of by the makers of these boots. They look great at first but the materials they are made of are extremely poor quality. Beware.

I definitely have to go back- The Best Bay in Canada
By ,
First of all, the people employed at the Old Victorian Bay were very friendly and helpful. I love the building from the outside as well as the inside, and then when you walk in it's a surprise, because everything is wonderfully organized and in it's place. This will happen if you have good designers. The Bay in Montreal is high end which I really miss at our Bay in Saskatoon. I wish they had a catalogue online because I would definitely order things from them online. I was in Montreal 5 days and spent at least 6 hours in total just enjoying the store and shopping. There is nothing that I disliked at the Bay in Montreal. The Bay in Saskatoon will never, ever compare. I had to come home and then visited our Bay and to tell you the honest truth, it was depressing walking into the store. Our Bay is very junky looking, disorganized and poor designing.

Good Deals, Big Selection
By ,
The Bay is Canada's main department store, and it's been around since before Canada even existed as a country, so it's not surprising to find pretty much everything you'd need for your home and wardrobe here. They've always got something on sale, and if you want a more upscale selection than the stuff that's offered at Zellers (a part of the Hudson's Bay Co.), The Bay will have it. Store brands mingle with well-known labels, and with all the departments you're sure to find something that suits your fancy. Four out of five rating, since things are often on sale but are more pricey to begin with. The deals are good, but not bargain-basement great.
