A downtown university student hangout since the days of sit-ins and anti-war protests, this is the place for cheap, usually edible food, not to mention phenomenally inexpensive draft beer, amid a rah-rah atmosphere. The seating and decor are as basic as you can get. The fare is also basic tavern, with lots of club sandwiches, hamburgers, fries and bafflingly cheap steak dinners. Later in the evening things can get considerably more rowdy; watch for flying wet t-shirts. A meal plus a glass of beer comes in at well under CAD10.
