Set in an out-of-the-way location on Montreal's West Island, this Cajun-flavoured French restaurant attracts clientele from both the nearby suburbs and the hard-to-please downtown crowd. What is its secret? A casual atmosphere combined with sophisticated cuisine, and a to-die-for setting in a stone house with flower-covered terrace. Main dishes such as grilled filet mignon with roasted corn and black-bean salsa can be had for under CAD30. Wines start at CAD30, service is friendly and courteous, and a typical evening will cost about CAD85 for two, before beverages.
It was one of my favourite restaurants in the West Island, but the food now lacks imagination in taste and presentation. You now get far less quality. To add insult to injury, you pay even more for it. This restaurant needs a change of management and chef quickly before it's too late!
ive been to many expensive restaurants in montreal. But i must say without a doubt one of the best filet mignon 's ive ever had. the portions seem small but dont be fooled it fills you up.
if you havent been go. its fantastic
In my opinion this is without doubt the best restaurant on the West Island of Montreal.
The quality and presentation of the food is exceptional and rivals all the best restaurants downtown - at least the many I have tried. The tuna and the fillet mignon are simply wonderful and prepared better than Cafe Fereira, Cavalis or even Milos!
The salads and starters are all creative and their homemade chicken liver mouse with onion confit is exquisite. The daily specials of fresh fish and game add to the wonderful menu. The wine list is extensive, but not intimidating and properly priced. The ambiance is first class with one of the co-owners always available checking that EVERYTHING is to your entire satisfaction. The staff are very friendly and well trained. It is noticeable that they all work as a team and you are never looking for 'your' waiter. A wonderful place for that romantic dinner for two, a great place to entertain clients and a special place for that special occasion.
Clearly, I believe in this place and have eaten here bi-monthly for many many years.
We found the food excellent, and the presentation eye appealing. However the service, I should say, the waitress left much to be desired. One of us has celiac, and specifically asked about the soup and whether or not it came with croutons, she said no, but that was not the case. We asked that our filet mignon be medium, it was presented to us as well done, to which we found out the waitress did not know that, a point, means medium. My affogato arrived after everyone had drank their coffee. When we presented the waitress with two credit cards to pay the bill, we expected her to automatically split the bill in two, which she did not. Overall, a pleasant restaurant and worth the trip, but the waitress needs a bit more training
