Buried deep within a tiny building and with little indication of what awaits, this Italian restaurant has enthralled patrons for 15 years. The decor is functional, with a white-tiled floor to match white linens. Tables d'hôte with a pasta main dish run in the CAD17-20 range, while meat or fish entrees go for CAD24-28. The atmosphere is delightful, with Puccini in the background, and the best tiramisu in Montreal. Service is breezy yet attentive and dinner for two, excluding wine and tip, is between CAD55-85. Reservations are often necessary.
This charming restaurant has now gone a great decline. The veal was a tiny portion, served with asparagus and no potatoes or pasta.
the whole meal was a disappointment, portions skimpy and lots of extra charges.
I've been going to Il Cortile for over ten years. It's the most beautiful terrace in Montreal. I love the ambiance, the food and the service. Compared to some of the other fine dining restos in Montreal it's well priced and the portions are large. It's a great place to run into a celebrity or a hockey player. The guy who gave a nagative review didn't sound too knowledgable...antipasto (the vegetables he spoke about) are served COLD.
I was invited to this restaurant by a friend & was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is a little hidden but well worth the discovery. Service was excellent & friendly and food superb and the restaurant was small and cozy. We had a delicious risotto with safran, spinach and scampi with an equally superb wine. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends!
Service excellent, very friendly, dining area cool and airy relaxing However all was not well with the food As I was no the host I did not make a fuss, neither did he.But his tuna was grossely overcooked and my spagetti alio olio was undercooked I dont know whether the entree of mixed vegetables was supposed to be hot or cold but is was cold.I had written you a letter to this effect, prior to this e mail.Hopefully this matter will be resolved soon,as It will take a while to feel we want to return
This is a wonderful gem of an Italian restaurant in downtown Montreal. It is hidden from street view, so a little challenging to find! The courtyard patio was fabulous, the decor simple and elegant, and the wine list extensive. The server we had was great, with a good sense of humour and an even better sense of timing. Not once were we interrupted "mid-munch", and he made several menu recommendations that were perfect. It was the best mushroom risotto I've ever had!
We were encouraged to linger over our after dinner coffee, so we did just that, through a lovely warm June evening.
Well worth the money. We can't wait to go back!
