Description

This easily overlooked hideaway is unprepossessing in nearly every way, except of course for its food. The younger crowd enjoys enormous bowls of Tonkinoise soups: beef, chicken or duck with various vegetables are an astounding bargain at around CAD6. The menu, printed on rolls of Popsicle sticks, also offers slightly higher-priced Chinese and Vietnamese standards. The small-town Chinese restaurant decor and a chatty crowd complement the quick, efficient service. An added bonus is the hilarious store-bought cocktail menu, which tempts diners with a Tequila Sunrise or a Harvey Wallbanger.

I've been going there for the past 24 years now since I was 6 yrs old. With family and friends, visitors we always go eat there. And before the fireworks, order to go and have a picnic. Wow soon, my children will go. The food is amazing and not expensive.

Awesome plateau resto!
By ,
My family and I came here last Friday for an early meal. We wanted to eat around 6:30 and catch a 7:30 movie, the servers were so helpful and friendly it wasn't a problem. The restaurant is cozy, they have ADORABLE handmade popsicle-stick menus. The server told me that it took her ten hours to make! I don't actually believe her, but they are really cute. We all tried the spring rolls and the fried rolls, both perfect for sharing and really fresh. My parents both had the soup, which I tried. My mum, the crab and my dad had the beef. The beef was especially delicious, a little bit sweet. My brother had a spring bowl which he said was the perfect portion. I had the lemongrass chicken, it came with rice and shredded veggies, it was a huge portion and really tasty!! We will be back!

Won't go back

Service was too slow and careless for lunch time. Only on waitress, had to wait 15 minutes before ordering. Main plate was served while I still had half of my H&S soup to finish . Soup was very ordinary. Crusty chicken was fried and dry. Rice and salad was dull. Place is too dark for lunch.

Awesome Family Restaurant
By ,
I love this place! The food is delicious and inexpensive. Sometimes at lunch it can get quite busy but for one chef to pump out all that food by her lonesome... they do pretty well. I would try the Tom Yum Beef Soup. It's great because they trim off the fat and cook the meat well, unless you specify otherwise. Best Fried Rolls in town (home Made) and they go out of their way to custom make things for you. Real chill place and sweet waitresses. I'd definitely recommend this place.

Nice place
By ,
its an overlook little vietnamese restaurant amid all the st-laurent high profile resto-lounge. It has the nice quiet atmosphere, the food is good and the service is not bad... and for the guys...the waitresses are cute at lunch time :P

I'd be a regular
By ,
Excellent food. The soups were delicious and the caramel pork dish was outstanding. Service was efficient and very pleasant, although this was not a busy evening. We also thought the neat little stick menus were fun. If we lived in Montreal, we'd be regulars at this place.

Popsicle Sticks
By ,
Great food, menus are made of little wooden sticks all linked together and rolled up with one dish written on each stick,so cool. Service is SLOW, only go if you're not in a rush, otherwise worth the wait.
