I cant beleive it me & my disabled mother visited this place last month. boy o boy has it ever changed the decor the food the service the prices my mothers motorized wheelechair slide through the door like butter, we proceeded to the newly renovated dining room this place was full on a tues morning. we had bacon & eggs home fries & toast waitress was pleasant food good the atmosphere worth a million dollars. me and my mother had a really pleasant afternoon. on the way out I noticed on the big menu board half pound steak, soup & salad, garlic bread only $9.99 I will be back for this. P.S. Free parking in high park. I think this is part of David Millers economic recovery plan at these prices I can afford to eat at this place everyday

big city park with small town feel
By ,
My family and I love High Park. It is very clean and well maintained. There is something for ever sport, in all seasons. What I love the most is that it is very safe. Even walking through the small overgrown trails, or riding bikes down the roadway. The park is well patrolled by police. People are considerate, and friendly. The tour of Colborne Lodge is a great lesson in history.

Visit An Endangered Habitat
By ,
High Park is home to one of North America's most endangered habitats - an oak savannah. This park is an amazing place to catch a glimpse of the sand prairie systems that used to cover much southern Ontario. Magestic 150 year old black oak trees tower over tall grass prairie plants like big bluestem, little bluestem, butterfly milkweed and wild lupine. Stray away from the more manicured shores of Grenadier Pond and try a hike in the West Ravine Nature Trails. It is on the nature trails that you will find the real beauty of the park. Remember how precious the park's natural areas are and please treat the park with respect when you visit. Walk dogs off leash ONLY in designated off-leash areas (the whole park is NOT off leash), stay on the trails and please don't pick the wildflowers. Put your garbage in the garbage can or the recycling bins - don't litter. This park is perfect for adults and children looking for a place to explore nature right in the city. It's mindblowing how many different species of birds, mammals, insects and plants you can discover in High Park. Remember, the park is ours to take care of so that many more people can enjoy the wonderful legacy that John Howard passed along to us.

Get back to Nature in High Park
By ,
If you're coming down to Toronto, don't miss this well-preserved natural park with beautiful gardens, on the westend side of downtown about 20 minutes away. It is a big park and within it exists different facilities for rest, relaxation and recreation. It even has swimming pools with slides(normally open in summer)and lots of parking spaces, all for free! So it is no wonder why people of Toronto come here to picnic on weekends. Some would even go fishing on a beautiful, scenic pond called Grenadier Pond. It is a quiet place ideal for reflection or meditation where the only sound you hear are the gentle sounds of nature. And just nearby rests the historic Colborn Lodge, where the couple John and Jemima Howard lived in 1837, who founded this very park. Hikers, joggers, bikers, or people on leisure walk, tread this park everyday. And even pet dogs have a special place in a sprawling, wooded off-leash area. Not to forget, there is also a nicely-maintained zoo here! And its free.
