nothing special-would not go back
Service was unorganized and the food was nothing exceptional. I have been to other top places in Toronto (360, North 44, etc) and I was very disappointed with Rosewater. We went for a summerlicious dinner thinking it would be a great dinner experience. The servers mixed up the distribution of our dishes for the app, entree AND desert. The desert was not what was described on the menu. The Red Snapper was nothing special and the salad had no taste (ie not sure if there was any dressing on there...).
People have warned me that they do not treat their summerlicious guests as well as their full paying customers and this visit has perhaps confirmed it. That really bothers me because this was an opportunity for Rosewater to win over new customers and instead we were casted away like cheap guests who deserved sub par service/food. If they feel that summerlicious guests do not deserve their "real food and service" then they should not be participating in the event period. If this is the usual food and service...then they are not worthy of being ranked top 50. I know from experience that 360 restaurant and North 44 were amazing experiences in comparison.
Aside from the food and service, the main level decor was distasteful and uninviting. The high back blue chairs looked like booth dividers you see at trade shows and they have this ugly clear wall with pointy objects sticking through. If you go, please request to be upstairs, downstairs or in private room. The most unromantic, untrendy and uninviting location is the main floor by the entrance way.
