Boathouse Bar & Grill, Toronto

This restaurant has been around for more than 10 years and they still can't get it right.The food is full service food court. Nothing made in house. Overpriced and a tourist trap. They had a stretch there in the late 90s where things improved slightly but it's now crap again.

Without a doubt one of Waterfront's finest. We shared the lobster and crab dip. I had a great salad and my husband had a steak. The quality,freshness and overall presentation was wonderful. We'll definately be back!

several minutes after our arrival a hostess greeted us. while we waited for service three staff members ironed table cloths a couple of tables over. after ten minutes, one of our party reminded staff that we actually were in the restaurant at a table. it took two reminders when finally a waitress arrived from what appeared to be a meeting in the front of the establishment. orders were taken and drinks arrived. Oh yes, a waiter tried to drop an order of calamari but it wasn't ours. most of our orders arrived ... only one out of four forgotten. one meal of fish was way overcooked and limped back to the kitchen and the item was cancelled from the tab. don't suggest trying bruschetta on a hot dog bun. the lobster dip hovered around just okay but was the only thing between us and starvation. i will say that the shrimp noodle bowl was tasty even though the noodles were somewhat chewy. with a tab hovering around the mid $70 mark for basically four drinks, two soups, two appetizers and one shrimp bowl, hardly an invitation to return. all during the meal two children were screeching and using the leather arm chairs next to us as trampolines.

I have worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years and this is by far the WORST food I have ever been served. 98% of our meal was microwaved, as it was burnt to the dishes in typical out-of-the-microwave style, but not even microwaved as everything was cold or a disgusting luke-warm. I never complain at restaurants, and didn't here either, but I will NEVER return here and spend my hard-earned money on this disgraceful excuse for edible food. I will certainly go back for a cold beer or cocktail and the good views, before or after dining elsewhere.

We ate here for Sunday brunch. There were about eight customers seated. We were seated right away, and our order was taken within two minutes. We were waiting for two orders of eggs for more that 45 minutes until we had to get up and ask for our food. Our server was avoiding us completely while serving other customers their food. After getting up and complaining about the wait, the manager finally came and apologized and offered us complimentary meals. He said the reason behind our meals being late was that one order of eggs was not made properly, and the egg had to be done again. This explanation seemed rather strange. We finally got the food after 1 1/2 hours. No one asked us if the food was ok or not and, we ended up leaving but not without letting the manager know how his resturant management and service was. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. The service was terrible, the management and staff are completely incompetent, and the food quality was questionable!

Great food and great service. The staff was very friendly. Patio was right beside the Lake so it was a great view. It was very busy but our meals didn't take too long. The staff were very positive and it looked like everyone was having fun.

I loved the fact that there were two (2) outdoor patios, one with it's own bar right on the water-front. Plus the food/service was top shelf. I stop for a game of billards and bite to eat every time I am in Toronto.

Arriving @ 3pm with relatives from Spain. The hostess was pleasant enough and agreed to seat us in 15 minutes even though we noticed that the restaurant was less than half full. We took it all in stride and decided to wander the mall and return @ 3:15. After returning, we noticed that the hostess was just beginning to prepare a table for 6(did I mention that the restaurant was less than half full?). The table was right at the entrance and we requested to be seated one more table in. Her demeanor changed quickly and said she'd have to ask the manager. We thought it'd be a no brainer since there were loads of tables empty in the area we requested. The manager came out and had a lengthy discussion with her, walking right by us and not evening glancing in our direction. The attire of the manager was shocking. I honestly thought he was a homeless person. Dirty matted hair, torn jeans(and not the stylish type), underwear hanging out(no he did not have hip-hop attire), unshaven and totally disheavelled(sp?). Quite a contrast to the rest of the staff that were smartly attired in restaurant uniform. As we were being seated, we were told that the food would be at least 30 minutes. We hadn't ordered anything by that time so I just thought that at that time the lunch staff may have left and preperations were perhaps underway for the dinner crowd. We ordered a variety of appetizers for everyone to share with our beers. The beers were excellent. Very cold and refreshing. The food was another matter completely. Of the 2 personal sized pizzas we ordered, 10 minutes later we were told that we could only have one as they were sold out. None of us could believe that they could've run out of pizza at 4pm. No matter, we had ordered a lot of other things so we took it all in stride. So let's review the food. We ordered 2 calamaris. They were extremely greasy and limp. To make matters worse, they were freezer burnt. Then our nachos came, and it was nothing more than a bowl of dip with some chips on the side. We asked if that was the nacho and the server told us that it was their style of nacho. A word of warning, if you're expecting regular nachos, chips topped with ground beef, cheese, guacomole, salsa, pepers & cheese all melted up....think again. They give you a bowl with layerings of sour cream, guacomole, a bit of salsa surrounded by unheated stale chips. Then there was the crab/lobster/spinach dip. It's a total mess held together by cheese that was only partially melted and totally devoid of flaver. You would never know that there was any flavouring of seafood at all. These are served with what appeared to be very greasy & burnt pita cut up in triangles & deep fried. The pizza was cold. Yes, cold. About the only way you could screw up a pizza is to let it sit outside for 25 minutes before you serve it. Not acceptable in any restaurant, let alone one that's more than half empty. The chicken wings were average and nothing special. The beers were very cold and refreshing, the highlight of the visit. A welcome thirst quencher after an afternoon of sight-seeing. Final word. We would never go back...EVER. The only thing going for this establishment is it's prime location. A shame that they take this for granted and don't concentrate more on the food and service end of things.

Aweful Service: Took over 20 minutes to have a waiter/waitress even attend to us even when the restaurant was not busy. Took another 15 minutes to receive drinks from the bar after ordering. Horrible Food: A chicken sandwich was ordered and it came UNDERCOOKED with the center still being cold and semi-frozen. Manager offered to compensate with a free meal, but overall still unacceptable.

We waited to be seated for dinner on the patio. After being seated it took about 20 minutes before a server came over to take our order, only to let us know that they decided not to take any more dinner orders because their kitchen was too backed up (at 8pm). Terrible service & ridiculous that they would even seat us knowing that this was a problem. We will never go back here again. I should add that this was on a Monday night (not even a weekend).
