Bangkok Garden

Description

If you're craving the heady fusion of Thai spices, head to Bangkok Garden. Voted the Best Thai in the Greater Toronto Area, this restaurant has been pleasing patrons since 1982. The restaurant has the feel of a refined, five-star dining room, with decor right out of Asia. Dishes include Totsakan's Revenge, Steamed Fish with a lemony red sauce spiced with Thai curry and lime leaves, and Emerald Curry with Coconut Milk and Fresh Vegetables. Dishes are generally spicy, so request less spice if you cannot stand the heat. The restaurant has been temporarily closed for renovations, so be sure to call before you drop in.

Three strikes and we are out!
By ,
We had been back twice since the restaurant reopened, and the previous two times were not up to the original standard. We decided to give it one more chance. That was our loss. We were "scolded" by the hostess for moving to another table, (the table we were sitting at was blowing cold air on us). The restaurant was less than half full at 7:30 on a Saturday night. She informed us that if the restaurant filled up, we had to move back. This was in a loud voice, that the people sitting next to us could hear, and were also appauled. The food was cold, the wine was not what we had ordered, and we were never asked why we did not drink it. We had to ask to have our water refilled, which it was with warm water. We left early, and we will not return. This kind of attitude and lack of service is clearly not acceptable when there are many fine dining rooms in Toronto.

Pleasing tourists is not key here
By ,
This place came highly recommended by the top hotel in Toronto for a family of 4 from Boston on 10/27/2007. The receptionist took us to a small table and when asked to be seated at a bigger table she developed an attitude saying they were for reservations(we had reservations!!!). We asked for 3 mai tai's to start and what came were three glasses of orange juice. The bar man made it his business to bring back the drinks as is and explained he used the right recipe and then left the drinks right there! So we had water for the rest of the night. The fabulous waiter was the only bright spot and he deserves a medal for working at such a place. We tipped him big time.

had the best experience there!
By ,
I recently went there for a casual friday night dinner with some friends, and I had an absolutely fantastic time. The food was excellent and fairly priced, the waiter was very attentive, and nice. The ambiance was great! I will surely be going back there soon!
