Who said cold weather is no fun? Winterlude, North America's largest winter festival, offers a flurry of activities for the whole family. The festival is based in and around Confederation Park across from Ottawa City Hall. Revellers can take in the many ice sculptures, afternoon shows and exhibits. Other activities, which take place along the Rideau Canal, billed as the world's longest skating rink, include a bed race, winter triathlon and a waiter and waitress race. Most events are free.
Winterlude is a very unique experience. There are all kinds of food stands and attractions right on the canal. Take a shuttle and go to all the other attractions like multiple sliding hills made from snow and the ice sculptures are amazing. Ottawa is a very nice city and the people are great also. I don't usually go back to the same place twice because there are so many places to experience but I am going back to Ottawa for Winterlude.
Winterlude is truly a must for all families. Lots of free stuff to do and see. Skating on the Rideau Canal, browsing through the Ice Carving contest, and much more. Really something to do at least once in a lifetime.
