Buyer Beware - Return policy 10 days
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/10
This concerns the York Street Location - but I assume the return policy is similar on Richmond Road.
I tried a pair of winter boots looking for superior pronation control (I have abysmally flat feet). I brought a pair home to check with my pedorthist. I wrote a little "stickie" to myself saying that I had 2 weeks to return (not used, treated etc.). The boots didn't pass the test. I returned them in twelve days (would have done so earlier, but I live an hour from Ottawa and couldn't drive for several days due to a severe lumbar sprain).
Turns out the policy is 10 days. When I explained my situation, the sales associate called the manager. He refused the return with a refund. It was not 10 days.
So now I"m stuck with a credit for close to $400. I was (and continue to be pretty upset. I asked if there was a limit on the credit, and the salesperson said no. When I checked the receipt later (very little trust left) it is one year. This must be illegal - gift certificates are now legislated for an indefinite time.
Here is a company that follows their "letter of their law" - I can only conclude that they have little concern for their customers and are greedy.
It will be hard for me to use up this credit. I will only go back to this store if there is something I can't get anywhere else.
The Expedition Shoppe needs to take a lesson from a company like Bushtuka which is awesome for customer service.
