Fratelli, Ottawa

We were there Friday Oct 30th I had a house special - chicken with pecans etc. served on a huge pile of mashed potatoes. THe potatoes were cold waitress finally came to our table when I was almost finished my chicken which was borderline overcooked. She took my plate to bring me more potatoes, second attempt - hot in the middle of pile but stone cold on top and sides. I suggested it was not microwaved long enough. She got defensive, said we do not have a micro in our kitchen and I watched the chef heat the potatoes. She did offer a dessert but at 10PM I don't want sweets.

We went for dinner on a Thusday evening to the Kanata location. We had heard good things about the restaurant. We were seated promply but the seating was over crowded and you could hear every word your dining neighbours were saying. The waiter kept bumping my chair trying to get by. It was very noisy also. The service was so slow we kept wondering if they forgot about us. Then between courses, long wait times again. I asked for a glass of water which I never got. The food was marginal at best, in fact, I can cook just as well at home. Then we asked for the bill promptly as we had some shopping to do, again, we waited for 15 minutes before they brought the bill. All in all, a poor dining experience. We will not go back!

We went there in the afternoon. When we arrived there was only a couple and no other customers. We gave our order but our food arrived only after 40 minutes. And in the meantime several people came to the restaurant who were apparently friends of the owners. Their food was served in less than 5 minutes while we waited for 40 minutes. We ordered a soup which was one of the worst soups we have ever had. It was really tasteless.

Unfortunatly, I had the worse experience dining in the Kanata resturant.The woman friend I had taken there to impress was not impressed whatsoever. the service was very slow, the food arrived after about 45 minutes,the glasses had spots on them, the food was passable. I don't know what the hype was all about, I would rather go to an authentic Italian resturant like CaffeItalia Trattoria in little Italy.

Went 3 times to the Kanata location. Made reservations in advance, but every time had to wait for around 45 minutes to be seated. Small entrance area of the restaurant was jammed with people waiting to be seated.

We went to the Westboro location on a Sunday with a friend with a reservation and it got suprisingly busy. The food is good though a little pricey. If you are single or couple and without young children, I think this place is great. But if you are new to the family scene, Fratelli is definitely not much of an option. It's good if you do not want much interuption from servers. Though the servers seemed nice, there was no replenishing of bread or beverages even when they came to our table to clear our antipestos. We needed to flag down 1 or the 2 servers to get some service. Furthermore when it came time to change our 4 month old, there was no space and the servers could not find any small location for 2-3 minutes for us to use. So as not to disturb the other guests, I ended up going out to our car to change our son's diaper. Overall the experience wasn't horrible, but I just don't think this particular location cares much for the young family demographic.

This is a great little neighborhood restaurant, with great ambience and the food is awesome. An absolute must is the bruschetta! Wonderful! Been there dozens of times and will certainly be back.

I love the food. Veal Marsala to die for. Everything always fresh. My favorite chardonnay. Ricci or Robert or Pascale always smiling. Take me to Fratelli's.

My coworker and I went to Fratelli's for lunch today (just as we have done many times in the past) and we were very disappointed. In fact, this is the third time I have had a bad experience. I'm going to stop recommending this restaurant to my coworkers and friends. It appears that their service and food quality are going downhill. It took an hour for us to get our salad specials. The trout on our salad was tasteless and very watery. After 50 minutes of waiting for our lunch, we asked one of the waiters. Then they apologized. The really sad part was that they didn't even discount our meal. Of course we were very late getting back to work. What a waste of time.

The kanata restaurant was romantically lit on this friday evening although we sat out on the patio which was nice. I ordered the chicken which they are famous for and was suggested by the waiter and a veal dish was brought to the table instead. The waiter apologized for the mistake and ask me if i wanted to return the dish although i decline it because my friend had her meal already no compensation was given after the meal for this error. My friend ask for a cup of tea which she was given a dirty cup with encrusted food particles on it the excuse given it was to dark to see the cup in the restaurant bar area she was brought a second cup hot just out of the dishwasher problem solved.
