This combination kitchen store and restaurant is well worth a visit. Located in the heart of the Byward Market, Domus brings the garden to the city as the chef boasts fresh, regional and seasonal ingredients and strives to include as much organic produce as possible. The decor is crisp and stark with lots of natural light. There is a funky store attached, which sells high quality kitchenware and cookbooks. You can browse while you wait for your meal to be prepared.
We have been to Domus on a couple of occasions and most recently were there for lunch. We found our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The food was fabulous and they were usually fresh local ingredients.
Yes you are next to the retail store but that is part of the wonderful atmosphere at Domus. I look forward to our next dining experience there.
It was such a refreshing change to SEE the
kitchen and know that the Chefs were trained adults and were creating our food from the best possible ingredients to order. While we
sipped some very yummy (not available at the LCBO)Ontario wines.I liked the slightly casual feel of this pretty yellow room and was felt the service was very approchable.
Value is in the high quality food, you could pay less but would it be Domus?
We had read the considerable hype about this place and were very let down. A chilly atmosphere in more ways than one. I spent this expensive meal staring at the glass wall of the adjoining kitchen store with its shelves of frying pans, etc. Hardly the ambience for a relaxing meal!
Often times, service can be excellent but the food be average. Too many restaurants are out there serving high priced food and it's really not worth the price you pay.
Domus is different. The food is EXCELLENT. In fact, i don't know if i've had better.
Regional Canadian Seasonal cuisine at its best!

In the heart of the lively Byward Market sits this large, casual Italian restaurant, complete with red chequered tablecloths and
a large patio. Referring to itself as a "pasta market," the eatery, with its bare brick walls and pasta ...
When you come to this Vietnamese gem be sure not to bring your Visa card, or any other credit card
for that matter. Payment is in cash only. But that's okay, because you won't need much, and the food ...
