Rice-paper lamps, wooden screens and Japanese artwork add to the authentic feel of this sushi restaurant, popular with the downtown business lunch crowd. The main dining room features a sushi bar that spans the length of the room and allows you to watch as the chef prepares your meal. Salads (seaweed salad, CAD4.50), seasoned rice, noodle dishes (tempura udon, CAD9.50), steaks (CAD15.95) and sukiyaki (CAD39.95 for two) round out the menu. The restaurant also offers a children's combination dish (CAD9.95) with an ice cream dessert.
Best place to go eat authentic japanese food in Ottawa. The sashimi is always fresh and delicious and their menu of tenpura, teriyaki and so on will make you want to come back again and again. The staff is friendly and the service excellent.
Suisha Gardens has the best Japanese food selection, food quality, service and ambiance in Ottawa (do not forget their store, Kayeda Mart, located beside the restaurant)!
Some may say it is a bit pricey, but I believe for the quality you get, it's not expensive at all!
You may sit on the main floor at the bar or tables (lanterns, tradidional decoration, sushi boats) where you can see the sushi chef prepare your sushi or you can sit in traditional rooms (downstairs) where a water stream flows (you step on flat rocks to get to your table).
Fresh food that melts in your mouth every time plus friendly polite staff.
I have recommended Suisha Gardens to everyone and they all loved it.
Great setting, they also have "tatami" rooms which reflect real Japanese restaurants. They have a great selection of authentic Japanese food, like what you would actually find in japan. And of course, they also have sushi. This sushi is the BEST sushi in the city, and it rivals high-quality sushi you would find in Japan.
Prices are really high, though, but that's the price you pay for good food. Service is also good, but may be slow at times.
However, this restaurant is definitely one of my personal favs.
Have been going here for a very, very long time. It is evidently very well managed and the staff are tops. The noon time box lunches are exceptional and very inexpensive. This restaurant is also highly rated for sushi. Reservations are a good idea.
I loooooooved my experience at the restaurant. Loved the food and truly LOVED the decor!! We had a nice little japanese suite and it's very traditional. The service was very good, even though our server was in training. :o)
I recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Suisha Garden - Best Japanese Restaurant in Downtown Ottawa!

Wonderful restaurant in the heart of the downtown business core. The staff go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure your visit is enjoyable. Reserving a private room on the lower floor is a must for small parties! The entire restaurant is cleverally designed. The bottom floor features a water-rock garden where a trickling stream flows throughout the perimeter of the bottom floor of the restaurant.
