Hard to Beat

Those planning to dine at the Allegro are in for a very satisfying experience.
Service was from the moment we entered professional, efficient and courteous, delivering everything to our table, and removing it, right on time.
The food was very good to excellent, for all dishes. Particular kudos for the calamari appetizer: crisp, tender, with just a hint of paprika in the batter. The best I've had anywhere.
Although listed as "expensive" in most guides, my wife and I paid less than $100 for two, with appetizer, wine, dessert and a generous tip - great value!
Minor criticism: The house red wine was of high quality, and we were very happy with it, but it was the only one of an extensive collection that was offered in a half-litre size. I would have preferred more carafe choices.
The downstairs acoustics can make dining rather noisy and might be uncomfortable for some. Ask for the upstairs.
