Queen Elizabeth Park

Description

This park is known as 'Little Mountain' because it sits atop the geographical high point and center of Vancouver proper. Its two sunken gardens are a colourful backdrop for wedding photos. On top of the park are lookout points to spectacular vistas of downtown and the North Shore Mountains. Couples stroll hand in hand, Tai Chi is practiced in early morning sunrises, and children laugh as they play around Henry Moore's sculpture, 'Knife Edge'. There are also tennis courts and a pitch and putt course. Admission is free, charges vary for activities. Entrances to the park are located at 33rd Avenue at Cambie Street.

Most Beautiful Place on Earth
By KJ, 7/14/07
Vancouver has an amazing atmosphere that isn't duplicated anywhere else. The people are friendly. The city is a bubbling melting pot with so many wonderful natural sights and foods to enjoy. There is something for everyone, whether you like the beaches, the mountains, the shopping, the art, or just want to sit in a world-class spa and massage your stress away. I visit at least once a year and there is always something new to see or do. Go visit and enjoy!

Breath-taking
By Ellen, 5/29/07
This park, although not very big, is gorgeous. It sits atop Little Mountain (the highest peak in Vancouver city) and offers a beautiful view of the surrouning area. The grounds are breath-taking with the trees and flowers in bloom, as well as with the various waterfalls and ponds located in both large and small quarries. If I lived in Vancouver, I would want to be married there. Don't miss it!

Botanical paradise
By SamF, 5/21/07
Queen Elizibith park (once we finally found the way in) was a fantastic experience. The azeleas were in bloom as well as dozens of other beautiful plants. The highlight of the stay was the tropical garden inside a giant climate dome. It cost $4.50 Canadian which was well worth the photo safari we took. Parking was a few dollars also, which lowers the overal value of the trip. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Place to Visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/8/06
We visited Queen Elizabeth Park last summer when we came to Vancouver from Seattle on a day trip. The grounds were beautiful. We had a nice walk through the gardens and went through the Bloedel Conservatory. We enjoyed it so much we are flying back to Seattle this summer and bringing our daughter and her family with us. We will spend a morning enjoying the park again. The entrance to the park is free, and the visit to the Bloedel Conservatory is very reasonable. I think it is a "must see" on a visit to Vancouver. We look forward to spending several days in Vancouver in June. Queen Elizabeth Park will be our first stop. The Lotts
