Jericho Beach has everything you need right there. Stay at the hostel & you're rignt in the midst of things, it's an easy walk to anything you'd want - food, shopping, sight seeing, beach combing, sailing, paddling.. you name it, it's there.
The sailing club has a pub right on the beach, and there are also restaurants on the beach in either direction. Thre is a wonderful beach walk that goes up to UBC in one direction, and to downtown Kits in the other.
