True Value Vintage Clothing

Description

This second hand shop is an oasis of the funky, the retro and the cheap amid a desert of the brand-spanking new, the relatively dear and the shiny of Vancouver's Downtown shopping Mecca, Robson Street . Let the heavy bass or disco thread you downstairs to this grand vintage lover's dream. Sift through the racks of nostalgia-inducing gear while rubbing shoulders with city glam. The staff, though young and painfully hip, is nevertheless attentive.

True Value Vintage only has one truthful word in it's name. Vintage. This place is a glorified Value Village with bad lighting (so you don't notice sweat stains, rips, and loose strings), and bad service. The band t-shirts (not even tour/concert tees, the ones you get at places such as Bang-On and Hot Topic) are all in the range of 50-75$ no matter what the condition. Everything smells and looks worn in and used. I spent 1 hour in that shop and not once did an employee say a word to me, no agknowledgement whatsoever. There was nothing, I repeat nothing there for under 30$ and I bet they added 20 or 30 dollars to the original NEW retail price. It was a total waste of time to go there, luckily they have a Lululemon or else the trip really would have been lost. You have a better bet going through your parents or grandparents closet.

I absolutely love it. There is no other store that is around THAT I KNOW OF that's anything like this anymore, and these clothes are practically impossible to find elsewhere. The atmosphere is sweet, when you walk in and they're playing ELO. You never want to leave. together @ nexopia ;)

Value Vintage is great, eventhou the whole 'vintage' fashion is getting a little over-rated, value vintage still is great and is different from all the other vintage stores. They create old vintage into new fashionable clothing. It more-so gives a new name to 'style' then being over-rated

How a vintage shop should be.
By ,
Great shop! What I loved about this place is the fact that the dresses can be found by decade. Which goes to show that people here know a little about the clothes, instead of just hanging stuff on too crowded racks. Also there's just A LOT to see. Which is inspiring. I bought a fantastic 60's dress for a good price. One little thing about the new, vintage inspired brand that is available; I bought a very cool T-shirt that shrunk terribly even after wool-wash. That wasn't very good value for money. My boyfriend bought a really cool jacket. Next time in Vancouver, we'll definately stop here! Myrte

great selections, perfect for vintage lovers i have never been so overwhelmed with clothing. amazing selection on shoes, cowboy boots and a fabulous variety of dresses. though some of the new items were pricey, a lot of the clothing was definitley worth it.

Too expensive

Extremely over priced! There are many more vintage shops in Vancouver that offer much better value and service. Though there is a lot to look at.

Hey vintage hunters and associates, I think TVV is a great place, a great experienc, they do have a lot of really kitschy stuff, the selection is pretty great, the definitly will have an array of pieces you wont find anywhere else. However their prices are over the top, yes ok some of the things are worth the value for example that worn in vintage heavy metal concert T from the 80s. Or that Shimmering disc Pucci dress from the 60s. But when you browse over and find another t shirt or dress, that is much less kitschy and culturally valuble, for $2 less, it doenst mame one really want to spend the money for it. I guess what I'm saying is, they seem to think just because someting is old, automatically makes it really valuble, that is not the case, visit soem of the shops in the states and compare to other shops you'll see.
