Fiction Tapas Bar & Grill, Vancouver

In a city with many restaurants, this winebar is among the best. The food is simple, but incredible, the wine list is expansive, but not expensive, and the service is fun, friendly and professional. I feel like I'm in someone's living room, and the owner makes me feel as such whenever I go. I'm a chef, and after work we always head here for some nice cheeses, wine or beer, and sometimes scotch (they've got a lot!) and from a professional perspective theese guys are pros.

we are new to kitsilano and have trying to find intersting places on the westside that are not the usual pub atmosphere. We found a real gem, amazing. This place could rival any restaurant downtown yet it mantains the casual elegance of a real westside neighbourhood spot. The staff are very friendly and know their stuff. The food was a bargain and tasty. We stayed for drinks n lounge after dinner a dj started spinning late night and the atmosphere changed from dinner to cool to late night high energy. A great winebar and night club in one room depending on what hour you arrive. Now we are relieved we no longer have to cross the bridge to enjoy a night out on the town.

I thought the food was fantastic, there is a huge wine and scotch selection. So much detail has been put into providing anything I might want. Our server was fun and very knowlegeable. The value is incredible. high dining in a beautiful room no high prices or snooty attitude. I will be returning this week. Tyler

By far this is the friendliest place I have encountered since recently moving to vancouver. I dropped in for a bite and a scotch. I was told they have a great selection of whiskeys, I had no idea. Over 70. The bartender, Sue, was amazing. We bantered and she introduced me to a few regulars at the bar. I have never felt more welcome and taken care in an establishment. This will be my "cheers". As far as the bar selection what pro work. 50 import beers, 300 wines from around the world all to be matched with their cheese selection or small plates. The attention to the guest experience through the selection, food and service show true passion. Inspiring almost makes me wish I had not become an engineer. Joseph

I had dinner with a few friends last night at Fiction on Broadway and had terrible service. Evening started well, I ordered the burger and had a few bites. The burger was way to salty to eat! So when the waitress came around, I mentioned this to her. The response: "Oh, that's too bad" and walked away. So I gave up, ate some of the fries then pushed the dish aside. When they came to clear the table I mentioned again that it was un-eatable. The response: "Well, it's all a matter of taste" The bill arrived and I wasn't please to see that I was getting charged for something I didn't eat. I asked for it to be removed and was told it was the restaurant policy to not give refunds if the food was eaten. I had TWO bites and a couple of fries! She was pretty rude about it so I asked to see the manager. Fifteen minutes later, after sending the waitress again to get the manager I finally managed to reduce the bill by half the amount of that dish. And only after arguing with the manager about it for what seemed like an extraordinary amount of time. Simply and plainly the worst dining experience in Vancouver so far. The food wasn't great and the service just horrible.

absolutely love it, the food, service and atmosphere can't be beat. really.
