Pride in food and pride in service! That is clearly the underlying philosophy of the Chef and Hostess Owners/Partners.The customer is truly their focus and they are determined that your evening be a very special night out. Each person in our group had something different{ pepper chicken; le bifteck,rack of lamb and veal /pasta.. Everyone gave the restaurant 5 starsa! Cheryl M.

I have been coming here year after year with many a sojourn to bistros in New York. French Bistro food is my absolute favorite go to food! This is tres authentic. If you expect Daniel, French Laundry or The Inn at Little Washington you are in the wrong place. If you are looking for real French Bistro food which I consider un fussy comfort food then look no further. Consistent, delicious and cozy. High quality ingredients and a lovely dining experience. Can't wait to go back.

Server (Garcon) with an attitude-trying to grow up to be like his Parisian equivalents- did not really help. Cocky comment on wine prices, missed desert order, error on the bill. No offer to refill the tiny coffe cup. Requested hot mustard never showed up. Just a mild Canadian version was served. All in one short lunch break. It looks like there is always something not right at this otherwise nice imitation of an average French restaurant based on our experience over the last 10 years. We may give a few more chances to this establishment, however, our patience has its limits too. The food is still fairly good but not above average by any means. Pricing was maybe a touch too high for what we had.

We returned to the Cafe de Paris as our previous 2 visits had been such enjoyable experiences. We chose the set meal. The first course which contained scallops was excellent, but the meats in the second courses were tough and dry. The sweet was rhubarb and cream.It was OK. The service was dire! We asked for water - we didn't get it! The pommes frites were delivered to an adjacent table and the occupants ate them. Eventually we got ours, but we had already finished our main course by that time The spoons for the sweet were put on the table but we had to wait anpther half hour for the sweet to arrive. In the meantime, the man in the suit whom we presumed to be the owner, spent a very long time talking to the people at the next table. When he moved off our waiter took his place and spoke to them ignoring the other clients who were waiting for their food. We had really looked forward to visit this restaurant but it will never ever be on our list of 'things to do' when we visit Vancouver again.

This is not a place for foodies, but the food is excellent value. My husband went there for an impromptu lunch. One of us had a set 3 course meal and the other ordered off the menu. The food was fresh, well-made, and came out of the kitchen at just the right time. The waiter recommended a nice wine for us. There isn't a sommelier I think. Despite this somebody there knows their wines. We found the service to be attentive yet non-intrusive from a friendly but intelligent waiter. The decor was quaint. We even found parking for free. I would back here for lunch and possibly a well-priced dinner

I read the other reviews and went last night with a bit of hesitation - but, the reviewer from San Francisco must be referring to a different restaurant. We were in a party of 4 and were immediately seated and ordered cocktails. The Kir Royale could have been more bubbly and was promptly replaced with no question. My appetizer of tuna and salmon was spectacular and very reasonably priced for what it was. My wife had a salad with fig and goat cheese that was so nice she would of had another for dinner. For dinner I had the best rabbit leg I have ever eaten served with stuffed pork loin, polenta and sauces - again, it was exceptional. My wife had duck breast with lentil and red cabbage that she wants to duplicate at home at the first opportunity. The other couple both had steaks, a bistro specialty, with the best french fries in Western Canada. Yes, that is true. Desserts were freshly made sorbets. Our waiter, a professional, was polite, attentive and responsive. Bottom line, we can't wait to go back. - Ed

Stay away from this restaurant! The service and food were AWFUL. We were one of the only diners in there, but the food took over an hour to arrive and when it did, it was utterly disappointing. My French onion soup did not taste any better than something that I could have made (I'm not much of a cook). The cassoulet was dry and the vegetables were mushy. The service was horrible even though there were more servers than actual diners. They all stood around chatting and were extremely unattentive - we wanted a glass of water and never got it. Moreover, there is a terrible stench in the restaurant that makes you lose your appetite. The ambience is poor with old and broken furniture: our table was wobbly and our chair cushions were ripped. This is overall a very unpleasant place. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

My girlfriend and I were looking for a good place to have dessert in a Friday night and we found this place. When we stepped in it was 10:05pm and they close at 10pm, but the owner (I guess) kindly let us in. He was polite and classy. We had 'warm apple tart' and 'banana bread' and they were both very good and unique. The service was good, too. We also like the environment.
