One of Vancouver's most extravagant places to dine, this New York inspired steakhouse is one of the best places to be noticed in if you're a single young professional. The high ceilinged, three-storey restaurant has etched its place in the power-dining and matchmaking scenes. The menu is dominated by gourmet meat dishes served à la carte: the roasted prime rib of beef (CAD36.95) is a popular entree, and the double-cut lamb chops (CAD36.95) are a favourite. Appetizers range from a selection of fresh oysters (CAD11.95) to fried calamari with hot cherry peppers and Cajun mayo (CAD10.95).
I heard great review, so my boyfriend took me to Gotham restaurants for our anniversary. It was the not what I expected. The service was horrible. My food was cold, and I found a piece of hair in my entre. Not only did they insult us by believing in the customer is always right they questioned my findings. Overall my experience with this restaurant was not pleasant.
I was very dissapointed with Gothams. My husband and I went for our anniversary and when you are paying close to $50.00 for a steak, you would expect it to be worth that amount. My steak was very dry and well done when I asked for medium. Also, you have to pay extra for side dishes, so if you want two sides you are looking at close to $15.00. Which I found ridiculous considering you are paying $50.00 for a piece of meat. We are big steak eaters so I would not reccomend this place. Keg is much better, and worth your money.
Saturday night + no wait to get in = you should be worried.

The steak is fabulous but was not cooked as I requested it. A asked for it rare but what I got was cold in the middle. We also had the spinach salad, which was entirely forgettable, and the oysters which I cannot comment on because I do not care for seafood that much.
The atmosphere is very nice and the staff were adequate but unremarkable. Upon arrival I had to wait almost 20 minutes to place my first drink order. The dining room was fairly full at the time but I don't care - when you are paying what Gotham charges you don't make people wait. Overall, the entire experience was a bit disappointing. I doubt that I would ever go back there.
My date date and I enjoyed an absoultely perfect evening at Gotham! We were treated well by everyone and the entire menu was outstanding. We ate oysters which were perfect and then Filet Mignon...Our server was the best, her name was Melissa. We enjoyed a quiet booth were we were able to be romantic without having anyone embarrassed about our behavior!!! We will go back many times - I suggest everyone try this dining experience, but only if you a taste for the good life!
I have eaten at some of the best steak houses in Southern California and I can honestly say, I have not tasted a better steak in my life. Gotham is the place to be for a fine dining experience. I had the Ribeye and my wife had the New York. The menu is pretty much limited to steaks so if you are in the mood for seafood, you might go elsewhere, but for meat, this place can't be beat.
Went there for my birthday with my boyfriend, he has been before and my first. It was the best filet I have ever had! Just wish it wasn't so crazy expensive, then I would go back more often. Don't think they need so many so expensive bottles of wine, could use a few more reasonably ones.
My experience as a single diner was so amazing that I have the burning desire to fly my mom over to Canada just to have dinner! They really knew how to take care of a lady. I am in the LA area of So. California with CUT just a short distance from me, though, because of my past experience at Gotham...it's HANDS DOWN to Gotham! Absolutely supurb!
