This jazz and blues inspired restaurant just out of downtown is busy most nights of the week. Find generous servings of spicy Southern-style cuisine. Among the Louisiana favorites are Jambalaya and Seafood Gumbo. The choice of appetizers includes specialties such as alligator served in Cajun tartar sauce. There is also a selection of Caribbean curries and seafood. The atmosphere is festive and noisy and the walls are covered in colourful art and black and white photos of jazz and blues greats. Experience live music weekly.
The prices are just way to high and the food was just not up to the oher standards of surrounding brunch and breakfast restaurants. The restaurant itself was decorated beautifully, but the food and the prices are just revolting.
My girlfriend and I went to the Ouisi for our first time and I was amazed at the meal I had. I had an apricot brandy half chicken that was so big it hardly fit on the plate. It came with the best stuffing I've ever tasted. My girlfriend had a pepper chicken that I also tasted. Delicious! (But anything is when covered in melted Brie.)It was the best value and quality I've had in a long time. would say that this is my new favourite restaurant on Granville.
The food was absolutley horrible. The service was sorely lacking as well - slow service resulted in cold food, which was uninspired - what is the opposite of mouth watering??? well, this was it. I have absolutely no idea why people come here for the food - it was a complete waste of money.
We are regulars at Ouisi for special occasions, or just for a great meal out...
The first time we went the special prawns they had were so exquisitely spicy and delicious we couldn't get enough of them. Every meal we have had since has exceeded our expectations, and even just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The service is always impeccable, and extremely friendly. The decor is great, very warm and intimate without being pretentious, and the artwork makes you feel like you are in New Orleans. It is reasonably (if almost under-priced) for the quality of food and range of flavors they present. We would highly recommend Ouisi to anyone looking for a fantastic meal out or a new dining experience - Cajun food has now become a favorite of mine!
