This youthful restaurant is best described as funky. Located on Commercial Drive, it is a hip cafe surrounded by shops and coffeehouses. The casual ambience attracts a young clientele ready to socialize and imbibe. The decor is eclectic—local art adorns the walls and trendy music is always playing. The menu features a wide selection of vegetarian dishes, including veggie burgers or wild rice lentil loaf. Another main is the Wazubwith Chicken Sandwich with melted brie at CAD8.99.
The food was great, they were open alter, and the manager, Mike I think was his name, was funny and accomodating! It was PACKED and he still had time to talk with us and make us laugh!
We will be back again and again!
This is one of my favourite restaurants in the city. The music is always good, the staff are friendly, and it's right in the heart of the Commercial Drive area -- Vancouver's best kept secret. The food is great, simple and modern, with a good variety and plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The garlic mayo fries are amazingly awesome, and the veggie samosas are one of my personal faves, even though I don't like paying over a dollar for samosas (yes, I'm cheap, but check out the 49th and Main area, tasty samosas grow on trees around there).
Sometimes WaaZuBee falls into the trap of trying to make it's dishes a little TOO unique and modern. The chicken ceaser salad is a victim of this; there's really nothing you can do to chicken ceaser salad to make it special. The music is pretty loud and the place is always crowded (but not quite full, so there's never a lot of waiting), and the overall atmosphere probably wouldn't be great for a claustrophobe. If you prefer more seclusion, WaaZuBee's big sister Subeez, downtown near the library, is usually less crowded, and is a bigger space with the same great food selection.
