Description

Repeatedly a feature on Vancouver critics' "best of" lists, this cafe offers vegan and vegetarian classics like crispy Falafel sandwich (CAD5) and three kinds of hummus (CAD6.50). The bright and welcoming room is filled with a casual and chatty clientele. This winner of Vancouver Magazine's gold award for best Middle Eastern/African creates an array of tapas-style dishes, including Baba Ganoush (CAD7) and a goat cheese and tomato dish called Shinkleesh (CAD6.50). There is a small wine and beer list, as well as Lebanese coffee and tea.

I loved this place, great, fresh authentic lebanese food, wonderful owner and service, but it has closed, awful Mona's has taken it's place. Don't bother looking for it for you might accidentaly wander into Mona's clutches like we dumb tourists did.

An absolute must.

We have been only been during their lunch hours so comments are based from our lunches. Food: Vegetarian food at its finest. A great way to start if you're not familiar with the menu is to order the Lunch Special or Soup & Sandwich Combo. One of the best if not the best Falafel s/w ever eaten. Also try the beet salad, couscous, Arabian rice and Loubieh if you have the chance. They are a constant winner in the Vegetarian Category but have not developed the 'snobbish' attitude that some restaurants can develop. Dessert: Selection is limited and isn't really a place I would go for its desserts. Service: Very friendly and attentive. Atmosphere: Welcoming, simple, no fuss interior. We have been told that dinner is much more atmospheric.
